I'm from a time when, after leaving school, I would do research in libraries. When I was in high school, there was a large library near my school and it was a place that was visited a lot. Today I realize that this type of access is becoming less and less used, especially by young people who, thanks to the technologies we have at our disposal today, no one feels obligated or even needs to leave home to go to a library.
Throughout our history, libraries have played a major role in the evolution of our humanity. Books were on the most diverse subjects, such as philosophy, mathematics, medicine, literature, engineering, and others. We evolved as a society thanks to these "papyri". Imagine how much knowledge we could still have if some famous ones like the Library of Alexandria were still in existence?
Just to give you an idea of how valuable the Library of Alexandria was to us, if it were still standing, we could have acquired the knowledge we have today, up to 1,000 years earlier. That's why we should value what history and knowledge have been stored for all this time through books. Of course, much of this knowledge is already in databases today. I can't say for sure if all the knowledge in the world is already "saved", but I know that with AI, this kind of thing won't be a problem.
Go to a Library or Explore Without Leaving Home?
The current generation doesn't know what it's like to have to move from one place to another and have to research something they need through books. As I said before, everything is accessible in the palm of your hand thanks to the technology we have today and I have already told my children that they are lucky to have everything at their disposal and that they can find out anything in just a few seconds of searching.
I'm the kind of person who likes to preserve things from the past. I know how important libraries are, but I also understand that they are being visited much less frequently these days. At least that's what I see here in the region where I live. Of course, in some places in the world where the internet is not so accessible, libraries can be useful as a source of knowledge for those people. That's why I think it's very difficult for libraries to be left aside today.
The Digital Age has arrived, but that doesn't mean that one thing will replace the other. Both can coexist, just like dubbing, for example. AI is advancing so fast that today people are discussing what the life of a voice actor will be like in the coming years because artificial intelligence is already doing this type of work, and in some cases it is even excellent. However, I imagine that everyone can benefit and one will not take the place of the other.
While there are places in the world devastated by wars and famine, where technology is still something quite difficult to be accessible to those people, I have no doubt that somewhere, even if it is small, it will be possible to have a library. All knowledge of the ancient world must be preserved and, like all knowledge, it must be shared with everyone.

Sou do tempo que ao sair da escola, fazia pesquisas em bibliotecas. Quando eu fazia o ensino médio, tinha uma biblioteca grande próximo a minha escola e ela era um lugar com bastante visita. Hoje percebo que esse tipo de acesso está cada vez menos usado, principalmente pelos jovens que por conta das tecnologias que temos hoje a disposição, ninguém se sente obrigado ou mesmo sinta necessidade de sair de casa para ir a uma biblioteca.
Ao longo de nossa história, a biblioteca teve um grande papel na evolução da nossa humanidade. Os livros eram dos mais diversos assuntos como filosofia, matemática, medicina, literatura, engenharia e entre outros. Evoluímos como sociedade graças a esses "papiros". Imaginem o quanto de conhecimento poderíamos ainda ter se algumas famosas como a Biblioteca de Alexandria estivesse ainda existindo?
Só para se ter uma ideia do quando que a Biblioteca de Alexandria era valiosa para nós, se ela ainda estivesse de pé, poderíamos ter adquirido esse conhecimento que temos hoje, por até 1,000 anos antes. É por isso que nós devemos valorizar o que a história e conhecimento foram guardados por todo esse tempo através de livros. É lógico que muitos desses conhecimentos já estão hoje em banco de dados. Não sei afirmar que se todo conhecimento do mundo já está "salvo", mas sei que com a IA, esse tipo de coisa não será um problema.
Ir a Uma Biblioteca ou Explorar Sem Sair de Casa?
A geração atual não sabe o que é ter que se deslocar de um lugar para outro e ter que pesquisar alguma coisa que está precisando através de livros. Como eu disse antes, tudo está acessível na palma de sua mão graças a tecnologia que temos hoje e eu já falei para os meus filhos que eles tem sorte de ter tudo a disposição e se pode saber qualquer coisa em poucos segundos de uma pesquisa.
Sou do tipo de pessoa que gosta de preservar as coisas do passado. Sei da importância da biblioteca, mas também entendo que hoje é algo que está sendo bem menos visitado. Pelo menos é o que percebo aqui na região onde moro. É claro que em alguns lugares no mundo onde a internet não é tão acessível, as bibliotecas podem ser úteis como fonte de conhecimento para aquele povo. É por isso que eu acho bem difícil que hoje a biblioteca não seja deixada de lado.
A Era Digital chegou, mas isso não quer dizer que uma coisa irá substituir outra. Ambas podem coexistir assim como a dublagem por exemplo. A IA está avançando tão rápido que hoje se discute como será a vida de um dublador nos próximos anos porque a inteligência artificial já está fazendo esse tipo de trabalho e em alguns casos até de excelência. Porém, imagino que todos podem se beneficiar e um não irá ocupar o lugar do outro.
Enquanto que no mundo existir lugares devastados por guerras e fome, onde a tecnologia ainda é algo bastante difícil de ser acessível para aquele povo, não duvido de que em algum lugar mesmo que sendo pouco, será possível existir uma biblioteca. Todo conhecimento do mundo antigo deve ser preservado e assim como todo conhecimento, deve ser compartilhado para todos.
