This is my entry for the contest promoted by @gwajnberg and among the topics related to STEM. For more details, I suggest reading this post. I really appreciate everything related to Space Exploration. I invite everyone to participate, as there is still time to share our passions.
My Inspiration for Space Comes from Films and Series
I'm part of the generation that practically grew up with the evolution of several technological innovations over the last 30 years. If we remember, you certainly remember how smartphones have changed over the last few years. Remember what that Nokia "brick" shape looked like? I believe that almost everyone had a cell phone of that format and look at what a smartphone is like today and the countless functions it has.
About STEM, I really like technology and science, more specifically everything related to space. I have no doubt that many of us are influenced to like this genre thanks to films and series. How can you not be fascinated watching the Star Wars saga? Or even get a glimpse of the Star Trek series? My favorite film, which is in my top 3 on my list, is Interstellar.
Since I was little, I watched all this and wondered how it would be possible for some of the technologies we saw on the screen to become reality. But I know that some things like teleportation or time travel would be something very far from our current reality. However, there are some things that are possible today and one of these things, SpaceX has already mastered it perfectly.
An Important Milestone in Space Exploration
I remember when I watched the reverse landing of the SpaceX rocket booster live. That day I realized that the journey of space exploration gained a new milestone. What was fiction and we were used to watching this in films and series, now today Elon Musk's company shows that this will increasingly be something quite common.
The reverse landing of these thrusters, in addition to being incredible, is also quite important from a financial aspect, as the reuse of this equipment reduces the costs of special transport by 30%. Remember when we had the famous Space Shuttles? The solid propellants that helped these rockets ascend were completely discarded.
Musk's dream is the colonization of Mars and I wonder if my children will have the possibility of visiting the red planet. I know that my grandchildren will have much better chances and I am sad that this personal wish of mine will not be fulfilled. I don't think I'll be able to have the chance to travel to space one day, but just the fact that I can follow all this evolution is worth it.
Interestingly, we have more detailed knowledge of space than our Earth ocean. Only 5% of the seabed is mapped. Meanwhile, we have very detailed mapping of the Moon and Mars. We are aware of 750 thousand identified asteroids and fortunately no imminent danger. I remember once when I was very little, when I saw an advertisement in Jornal Nacional, saying that an asteroid could hit Earth.
As I was a child, you know how our thinking and creativity are touched. Of course, I was very scared and in the report, there were some examples of how this asteroid could be destroyed by us. Even laser beams were a possibility. This reminded me of the movie Armageddon by Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler.
With the advancement of technology, we are increasingly witnessing some things where fiction is becoming reality. Without a doubt, it would be really cool to have the chance to be in a hotel in space, but as I said before, these things might take a little longer, but if I'm still here to witness this and other incredible possibilities in space, I would certainly do it. as much as possible to be up there.
The future will undoubtedly be very interesting in the coming years and even more so in the coming decades. With the speed at which countless technological innovations are developing, perhaps some things can still be seen by those of us on Earth today. But just the fact that we are having the privilege of following this new stage of Space Exploration is already very rewarding.

Minha Inspiração pelo Espaço Vem de Filmes e Séries
Faço parte da geração que praticamente cresceu junto com a evolução de várias inovações tecnológicas ao longo dos últimos 30 anos. Se for lembrarmos, você certamente lembra como os smartphones mudaram ao longo desses últimos anos. Lembra como era aquele formato de "tijolo" do Nokia? Acredito que quase todo mundo teve um celular daquele formato e olha como hoje é um smartphone e as inúmeras funções que nele possui.
Sobre STEM, gosto muito de tecnologia e ciência, mais especificamente sobre tudo que é relacionado ao espaço. Não tenho dúvidas de que muitos de nós somos influenciados a gostar deste gênero graças a filmes e séries. Como não ficar fascinado assistindo a saga Star Wars? Ou mesmo ficar vislumbrando sobre as séries de Star Trek? Meu filme preferido e que está no meu top 3 da minha lista é Interestelar.
Desde pequeno, eu assistia tudo isso e ficava imaginando como seria possível algumas tecnologias que víamos nas telas, ser realidade. Mas sei que algumas coisas como tele transporte ou viagens no tempo seria algo bem distante de nossa realidade atual. Porém, existem algumas coisas que hoje é sim possível e uma dessas coisas, a SpaceX já domina perfeitamente.
Um Marco Importante na Exploração Espacial
Eu lembro quando assisti ao vivo o pouso de ré do propulsor do foguete da SpaceX. Naquele dia percebi que a jornada da exploração espacial ganhou um novo marco. O que era ficção e que estávamos acostumados e assistir isso em filmes e séries, agora hoje a empresa de Elon Musk mostra que cada vez mais isso será algo bastante comum.
O pouso de ré desses propulsores além de ser algo incrível, também é bastante importante no aspecto financeiro, pois a reutilização desses equipamentos reduzem em 30% os custos dos transportes especiais. Lembram quando tínhamos os famosos Ônibus Espaciais? Os propulsores sólidos que ajudavam a subir esses foguetes eram completamente descartado.
O sonho de consumo de Musk é a colonização de Marte e eu fico imaginando se meus filhos poderão ter essa possibilidade de poder visitar o planeta vermelho. Sei que meus netos terão muito mais chances e fico triste por que esse meu desejo pessoal não seja realizado. Acredito que não conseguirei ter essa chance de viajar para o espaço um dia, mas só o fato de poder acompanhar toda essa evolução, já vale muito a pena.
Curiosamente, nós temos mais conhecimento detalhado do espaço do que o nosso oceano da Terra. Apenas 5% do fundo do mar está mapeado. Enquanto isso, temos um mapeamento muito detalhado da Lua e Marte. Temos conhecimento de 750 mil asteroides identificados e felizmente nenhum perigo iminente. Lembro de uma vez quando eu era bem pequeno, quando vi um anúncio no Jornal Nacional, dizendo que um asteroide poderia se chocar na Terra.
Como eu era uma criança, você sabe como nosso pensamento e criatividade são afloradas. É lógico que eu fiquei bastante com medo e ainda na reportagem, tinham alguns exemplos de como esse asteroide poderia ser destruído por nós. Até raio laser era uma possibilidade. Isso me fez lembrar do filme Armageddon de Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck e Liv Tyler.
Com o avanço da tecnologia, estamos presenciando cada vez mais algumas coisas onde a ficção está se tornando realidade. Sem dúvidas seria muito legal poder ter a chance de estar em um hotel no espaço, mas como eu disse antes, essas coisas talvez possam demorar um pouco mais, mas caso eu ainda esteja aqui para presenciar essa e outras possibilidades incríveis no espaço, certamente faria o possível para poder estar lá em cima.
O futuro sem dúvidas será muito interessante nos próximos anos e ainda mais nas próximas décadas. Com a rapidez de inúmeras inovações tecnológicas estão se desenvolvendo, talvez algumas coisas poderão ainda ser vistas por nós que estamos hoje na Terra. Mas só o fato de que estamos tendo o privilégio de acompanhar essa nova etapa da Exploração Espacial, já está sendo bem gratificante.
