Violence is a global issue that concerns the poorest, the middle class and also the rich. It is everywhere and today we understand that it can manifest itself in many ways. What can we do to stop this evil?

- Domestic violence, which occurs within the home due to the perception of one being powerful and another powerless, with the other being the inferior being and, in the understanding of the aggressor, deserving of punishment.
- School violence, which manifests itself in the practice of so-called bullying.
- Religious violence, and its intolerance towards diversity and other concepts.
You might want to explain that it is possible to classify school violence as a type of psychological violence, but you are wrong. It encompasses multiple characteristics, such as physical aggression, and others, such as the possible variations of being veiled (hidden) or explicit. We do not want to discuss concepts here. Nor am I someone capable of theorizing on the subject. As a layman, my perception is purely subjective.
The fact that violence exists and continues to escalate makes us think about the direction that society is taking. Let's see what the Brazilian magazine Exame.com tells us:
The Global Study on Homicide, released by the United Nations (UN) in December 2023, showed that, between 2019 and 2021, more people were victims of homicides than of armed conflicts or terrorist acts combined.

If cases of violence are only increasing, we are asked how we can reverse this trend. And here lies the difficulty in understanding the reasons that lead human beings to commit violent acts. What were the reasons that triggered this reaction? I believe that if we get to the reasons, we can focus on these points and thus avoid the triggering of violent actions.
The thing is that the reasons can be individual or collective.
Individual motives may be those linked, for example, to the practice of school bullying, where the individual is ridiculed for their appearance, their social status or their intellectual capacity. In these cases, we need to work with the idea of promoting an evolution of social consciousness. In order to develop a better society, we need to invest in the development of citizenship, a sense of belonging, and this should of course be done among the youngest through the family and primary school.
As for collective motives, I imagine that you can understand religious violence as something that affects a group of individuals. Let's be direct in invoking the Catholic Church as an example of those who persecuted, raped and murdered people for reasons of religious differences.
Throughout history, the Catholic Church has been involved in persecutions, violence and murders motivated by religious differences. Some examples include:
- Inquisition: Ecclesiastical courts persecuted heretics, witches and dissidents, often using torture and executions (as in Spain and Portugal). > - Crusades: Military expeditions that killed not only Muslims, but also Jews and dissident Christians.
This is part of history.
How can we move forward towards greater tolerance? Again, through education provided in the cradle by the family, and then through the development of citizenship in school.
In short, I believe that violence as it manifests itself today, and as it manifested itself in the past, is a result of society, as if it were a mirror of it. Therefore, for me, the only way to change the course of violence is to change society at its genesis, through the next generations, who, having lived through other experiences andperspectives can overcome the simple reproduction of the violent world we live in today.

Primeiramente cabe destacar que eu percebo diversos tipos de violência, então preciso indicar qual é meu entendimento sobre o tema:
- Violência física, também popularmente chamada de agressão. É o puro e simples fato de agredir alguém.
- Violência psicológica, que é aquela que causa sequelas emocionais e não pode ser percebida por exames periciais do corpo, pois seu dano é na mente do agredido.
- Violência doméstica, é aquela que ocorre dentro de casa em função da percepção de um ser potente e outro impotente, sendo que o outro é o ser inferior e, no entendimento do agressor, merece ser castigado.
- Violência escolar, que se manifesta na prática do chamado bulling.
- Violência religiosa, e sua intolerância à diversidade e outros conceitos.
Você pode querer explanar que é possível classificar a violência escolar como um tipo de violência psicológica, porém você está errado. Ela agrega características múltiplas, como também agressão física, e outras, como as variações possíveis de ser velada (oculta) ou explícita. Não queremos discutir conceitos aqui. Tampouco eu sou alguém capaz de teorizar sobre o assunto. Sendo leigo, minha percepção é puramente subjetiva.
O fato da violência existir e seguir em uma escalada crescente nos faz pensar nos rumos que a sociedade está tomando. Vejamos o que nos informa a revista brasileira Exame.com:
O Estudo Global Sobre Homicídios, divulgado pela Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) em dezembro de 2023, mostrou que, entre 2019 e 2021, mais pessoas foram vítimas de homicídios do que de conflitos armados ou atos terroristas combinados.

Se os casos de violência só crescem, somo questionados em como podemos reverter essa tendência. E aqui fica a dificuldade em compreender quais as razões que levam o ser humano a praticar atos violentos. Quais foram os motivos que desencadearam essa reação? Acredito que se chegarmos aos motivos, podemos focar nestes pontos e assim evitar o desencadeamento das ações violentas.
Acontece que os motivos podem ser individuais ou coletivos.
Motivos individuais podem ser aqueles ligados, por exemplo, à prática do bullying* escolar, onde o sujeito é ridicularizado por sua aparência, por sua condição social ou por sua capacidade intelectual. Nestes casos precisamos trabalhar com a ideia de proporcionar uma 88evolução da consciência social**. Para desenvolvermos uma sociedade melhor, precisamos investir no desenvolvimento da cidadania, do senso de pertencimento, e isso é claro deve ser feito nos mais jovens através da família e da escola primária.
Quanto aos motivos coletivo, imagino que você possa entender a violência religiosa como algo que afeta um coletivo de indivíduos. Sejamos diretos ao invocar a Igreja Católica como exemplo de quem perseguiu, violentou e assassinou pessoas por motivos de divergência religiosa.
Ao longo da história, a Igreja Católica esteve envolvida em perseguições, violência e assassinatos motivados por divergências religiosas. Alguns exemplos incluem:
- Inquisição: Tribunais eclesiásticos perseguiram hereges, bruxas e dissidentes, muitas vezes usando tortura e execuções (como na Espanha e em Portugal).
- Cruzadas: Expedições militares que mataram não apenas muçulmanos, mas também judeus e cristãos dissidentes.
Isso faz parte da história.
Como podemos avançar no sentido de termos mais tolerância? Novamente através da educação propiciada no berço pela família, e depois pelo desenvolvimento da cidadania na escola.
Em resumo, eu acredito que a violência da forma como se manifesta hoje, e como se manifestou no passado, é resultado da sociedade, como se dela um espelho fosse. Desta forma, para mim, a única maneira de modificar os rumos da violência é modificar a sociedade em sua gênese, através das próximas gerações, que tendo vivenciado outras experiências e perspectivas possam superar a simples reprodução do mundo violento que hoje vivenciamos.
