Looking my best
Yesterday I spent half of my lunch break at the barbershop. I was able to slippery slide in on short notice. I always seem to get lucky with walk-ins. I guess I go at a slightly odd time, about an hour after most people are finished with their lunch break. The only thing is I always get a different person to cut my hair, since I don’t make an appointment. I have finally tried out every single barber and luckily this time I got my favorite out of all of them.
This dude is both super quick and skilled. He has never given me a bad haircut or bread trim, yesterday was no different. It took him maybe 20 minutes to sculpt my beard and fade up my head.
He even used a beard straightener on me, I had never used one before. I knew they existed, but have said no to buying one in the past. Him taking the time to use it made me want to get one for sure. It’s basically a heated brush that you delicately use to make your beard look less fuzzy and more straight.
The product combination the barber uses on me when he finishes always smells so damn good. Literally the only thing that sucks about the barbershop is having hair all over you when you’re finished.
I know for sure that I always feel a million times better after some time spent at the barbershop. I’m thankful to live only a block away from the place that I got. It’s right in between where my apartment is and where I work, which is two blocks away.
Once I finished up at the barbershop, I of course wanted to get some photos of my updated appearance. So I snapped some images, a few indoors and others outdoors.
This one I took up against a marble wall was especially cool to me. I love the background and this was the best my beard has looked in a long time.
Hair is ART
I planned to post about my new haircut on my blog, so of course you know I had to make myself a cool thumbnail. Just before I finished by adding the text, I had an idea. Plus I was looking better than usual in my photos, so I thought why not. I wanted to make some colorful designs to celebrate my barber experience even further.
I decided to make 4 different designs. Earth🌿, Water🌊, Wind🌬, and Fire🔥. Each one focuses on a specific shape and color.
I thought it was a good artistic idea to pursue because my barber actually used all four of these elements on me.
- Water: to wet my hair.
- Wind: to blow hair off of me.
- Earth: the natural hair products.
- Fire: the heated brush for my beard.
Take a look at my elemental designs:
Earth 🌿🔺
Plants and triangles are in full effect with this iteration. I’m getting heavy Legend of Zelda vibes from this one. Makes me feel extra Irish too.
Water 🌊🛑
Wet and fluid with octagons for this design. This design actually inspired me to make a new The Wayve intro for my friend’s videos. I’ll be posting that sometime next week.
Wind 🌬🟥
Clouds in motion and squares depicted in this majestic artwork. The air is such a powerful element, this beautiful scene could easily be a destructive tornadoes if the speed was turned up higher.
Fire 🔥🔴
Some smoke and circles work together to showcase my unique idea. I wanted to represent what this element may consider itself to look like, rather than how we see it.
Which element is your favorite?
- Earth🌿
- Water🌊
- Wind🌬
- Fire🔥
My personal favorite is Wind, but Earth is a very close second place.
