As I prepare for the final weeks of flower, I am not going to be feeding the GDP any nutrients. This will allow the plant to soak up all the nutrients that are in the soil already and the water will clean the soil. One of the things that is really important in the final stages is to make sure that your soil does not become too acidic because that could start to stress the plant out and decrease its growth.
One thing I did add to the water today was some of my Doctor Zymes. I have some powdery mildew on part of pot that the plant is growing in. This is due to the soil being wet and that the plant is about three months old. I have been adjusting the amount of water that I give the plant to try and reduce the wetness of the lower part of the pot. Tomorrow, I will probably only give the plant 1 liter of water so that it will drink up most of the moisture in the soil. I normally give the plant between 3-5 liters a day. Lowering the water for a couple days while treating the mildew with the Doctor Zymes should help get rid of the mildew and excess moisture.
The buds are still forming very nicely. I am pretty excited about how well this plant has done. Photos do produce a lot more than the autos I have grown, but I do like the quick turnaround on the autos. I am going to be ordering some more photoperiod seeds so that I can get a nice supply of weed that won't run out very fast. One of the strains I am interesting in is Sour Diesel. I tried that strain a few years back and really liked it. There are some other famous strains that I want to try out that are more for medical use as well. I am planning on growing them one at a time in the big tent and having one autoperiod plant growing alongside so I can continue the quick turnaround and try new strains out while growing the majority of my stash as the higher end strains.
This flush week should help to keep all the levels of the soil where they need to be. I am planning on doing another flush during the last week of flower, which should be between 3-5 weeks from now. It will be interesting to try and dry this plant with my old methods. I am going to have to remove all of lights from inside the tent so that it can hang upside down without hitting anything. It will be nice to dry it in the large tent where I can keep the temperature and humidity regulated. I think this is going to be my best plant I have grown, not only because of the size, but also because of the amount of time I am going to be putting into making sure I get the drying and curing process done correctly. I am hoping for a 10-12 day dry time. The longest I have ever had a plant take to dry was 7 days, so hopefully I can extend this one out to 10-12 days. Slow drying is the best way to get all of the gases and chemicals out of your plants for the smoothest smoke.
It is hard to believe that we are almost done with the GDP grow. I have been waiting years to try this strain and it is getting closer and closer. I just hope that nothing goes wrong in these final weeks.
