It's great to be able to meet you again one day, friends. Well, this time I want to show you my new drawing inspired by one of the fantastic Rising Star cards. In this case, it's card i113, Jew's Harp. I'm sure many of you don't know it. But don't worry, before I show you how I made the drawing, I'll first give you a little background on this instrument. I'll keep it short.
Well, as its name suggests, this instrument is played with the mouth. It consists of a metal frame with a flexible reed that is placed between the lips. To play it, you hold the frame with one hand, press it against your mouth, and move the reed with the fingers of your other hand, while modulating the sound with your mouth and breathing. In other words, it's like a guitar but with only one string, and in this case, the sound box would be your own mouth. To get notes, the opening of your mouth is the most important thing, in addition to the way you play the single string.
I see it a lot on YouTube in nature videos, where the artist simulates nature sounds with their mouth. Well, it's also used in those videos. That's where I've seen it the most. If you know of other genres, let me know. I'll show you how I made the drawing now. First, I made the frame, and here's how it turned out.
In the next step, I created the initial outline of the harp. This is the part that, in real life, is held by the hand near the mouth. It can be made of metal or wood. Also in the second photo, you can see how I made the single string attached to the reed.
If you notice, there are still many details missing. That's what I did next, adding all the remaining details. For example, completing the center chord and adding some edges to give the drawing a more realistic effect. I'll show you.
Now you probably know what's coming next: painting everything. As you can see in the following images, that's exactly what I did. I always paint from the outside in. This was the result.
And now, the drawing is almost finished. All that's missing is the card name and other details in the text fonts. In the final photo, you can see the result when I add these things. So, with that, we're done with this drawing. See you in the next one.
