How are you, hive chess community? It's been a while, but I can't completely get away from the boards, especially if it's to share some brutal games from the weekly tournament we hold with our team against others around the country on lichess.
They're friendly tournaments. There's nothing in the game other than a couple of points and the feeling of telling the other team that we won this time, but there are still some interesting games. Let me show you.
Liga America 2025 Team Battle
The first games are always something of a trap because they put us against players based on our rating, and often those players tend to surprise us quite a bit. This game was quite intense in many ways, and I was even at a disadvantage at the end, but I was able to win thanks to the clock
The first test of the tournament after a couple of rounds. I had to make many attacks and precise moves to maintain a minimum advantage of a pawn or more. Even with all the pressure, I think this was my best game of the night. Converting this is delicious.
Another very well-played game. From start to finish, I had the advantage and was even able to make some clever exposed attacks. It's not easy to convert these positions into a win. You're constantly under pressure, and the knights don't make it easy to stay calm. But we ended with a checkmating combination that left me Satisfied
I'll leave this last game for laughs. I was surprised it ended so quickly, but I think it illustrates well how I like to play. Castling on both sides, I think, makes games much more interesting and leaves a lot of room for attack, as in this case where my opponent missed a combination with the queen and rook and ended up defeated.
Those are just a few. I don't usually play too many games in these quick tournaments since I'm almost always at work, but when I can upload something to this community, rest assured I will.
