Last Sunday was a fun and ordinary for our family. We had a small lunch with my husband’s family at the farm. It was a full of laughter, food and of course – Tanduay.
Here in our province, Tanduay is one of the most popular drinks during family gatherings. Whether it’s a birthday, fiesta, reunion or just a weekend bonding, you will always see a bottle of Tanduay specially Longneck on the table. Here in our area most of sari sari store have Tanduay because it is the best seller.
Tanduay has been a part of Filipino culture for years. It is a strong rum, perfect for making toasts or doing the famous “tagay” a Filipino style of sharing one glass and taking turns drinking. Just one glass, passed from one friend to another, filled with good stories and laughter.
On that day, my husband brought one bottle and they enjoyed it slowly while eating fried catfish. It was not about getting drunk; it was about bonding. The cool breeze from the trees and the fresh air made everything more relaxing. I took a photo of this Tanduay bottle and that’s the picture I’s sharing with you today.
But as much they enjoyed drinking sometimes, I know that it’s not for everyone – especially the youth. So, I remind everyone: Please drink moderately. Alcohol is only good when know the limits. Drink not to escape problems but to celebrate life with the people you love.
This is my story for #BeerSaturday. I may not have beer in this post, but Tanduay has the same place in many Filipino hearts. I would like to invite @krissymayol to join this fun challenge and share your own story! Cheers to life, love and laughter – and the small bottles that make big memories.
Cheers to life and family.
