Hello rally fans :)!
If you’ve been following WRC lately, you probably noticed Mārtiņš Sesks quietly (but confidently) fighting for his place among the WRC1 drivers. The Latvian driver made a solid impression this year, and now he’s aiming for something more in 2025; a bigger program with none other than M-Sport Ford. And honestly? Good for him!!!!
What’s refreshing about Sesks is his mindset. He’s not obsessed with instant results or big headlines; he’s focused on gaining experience, learning, and building up the right way (note this ;)!). In a time when so many drivers feel pressure to prove themselves right now, Sesks is approaching this with huge maturity beyond his years.
“Of course, if I had experience of five years in WRC, and I’m doing this half a season, and my job is to push in each of the rallies, then of course it gives you some kind of benefit [not doing a full season]. But yeah, I won’t see it as that at the moment. It’s just the experience that counts.” - he told DirtFish
This season, his main goal has been to adapt to Rally1 machinery. His next big test will be at Rally Portugal. It’s a massive step up, but one he’s clearly been preparing for methodically.
M-Sport has shown interest in expanding their relationship. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it’s clear both parties are keen on making it happen :)! Sesks brings talent, humility, and a deep connection to the rally scene; something WRC definitely needs more of🙌🏻!
He’s also impressed all of us because he’s not trying to fake it till he makes it. He straightup said that the biggest win for him right now isn’t a podium but rather seat time. Rallying is a sport where experience matters just as much (if not more) than raw speed, and Sesks seems to really get that!!
It’s easy to root for someone like him. No drama, no ego; just someone who genuinely loves the sport and wants to grow into it the right way (same goes for @ssekulji 😄). Fingers crossed we’ll see a fuller calendar from him next year. I’d love to watch his story unfold further!!
