As it was another sunny day, I decided to drive to the outskirts of my village for a short walk. Although it was warm in the village, there is always a slight breeze in the air where I was going for a walk.
This pathway appears flat, but it actually has a slight incline and can be rocky, making it slippery during the winter months. Today, the conditions were dry, so I can walk without worrying about my footing. Famous last words!
At the bottom, there is a level footpath where sunlight filters through the trees, casting some lovely shadows on the ground.
Along the footpath and at the top of the trail are bilberry bushes. While it is a bit too early for the fruit, when late summer comes, these bushes will be full of small blue-black berries. You are free to forage these berries to make jam and pies.
As I climbed back to the top, I spotted the local rock formation known as 'Ashover Rock,' named after the village below. The yellow gorse bush was a nice contrast against the clear blue sky. In late summer to autumn time, the landscape will also be full of purple heather.
On my way back to my car, I noted that the view from the top will be much better in summer when the landscape is green. Currently, however, the bracken is brown and dry.
