I accompanied a friend to pay someone a visit earlier today, and as I stepped into the household one things was particularly visible right from the entrance - A large Treadmill. Now treadmills are not uncommon in houses, but this one especially stuck out in my brain because, well, the person we went to visit was visibly overweight and didn't look very fit (I definitely may be wrong about the latter though).
It got me thinking about how we sometimes feel underserved by life in our expectations, when the truth is that what is required to turn things around has been provided for us. We may sometimes crave a healthier body for instance, but the tools to create that body is presented on a platter - waiting for us to make use.
It Applies to Finance
Part of my inspiration to take Hive seriously was a period I was broke and realized that I needed an additional source of income from my job. What's more, it was obvious that if I were to lose my job in the long-run, I would have very little to fall back on.
Trying to think through options for additional sources of income was quite the task, as none seemed to fit due to my work schedule and interests. Then I came online on Hive after a prolonged absence (several weeks) around May last year and spent some hours merely observing the developments on the chain. I came to the immediate conclusion that I was literally sitting on a goldmine. Almost a year later, that sentiment has not changed.
But for many people it is easy to simply bypass those opportunities which are already readily available to us in search of better ones, be they real or imagined. Some of us may also have challenges with identifying sitting opportunities presented to us and sometimes need either someone or something to point it out. For me it was a precarious financial position.
Pay Attention
This can be remedied by becoming more observant and generally seeking out those opportunities deliberately from within. Even here on Hive, we as Hivers have faltered on maximizing the opportunities available to us. It is one thing to blog consistently, but how about exploring other investment options such as HBD in savings or the DeFi pools? Surely we need better insights to maximize these opportunities.
Conclusion
Perhaps if we all reflect we'd see one or two opportunities right at our doorsteps that are currently unutilized. This isn't meant to be a motivation post, but I believe we really do not need to fall into hard times financially before we begin to take notice of the tools in our possession that can position us better.
