Currently, I have three SIM cards from different network providers, MTN, AIRTEL, and GLO. But I only use MTN and Airtel, because the two networks are almost available everywhere in this place.
However, MTN is my favorite network provider. It was the first network I started using and its service is known to be reliable. Although the network is not available in some locations, wherever it is available it service is always the best.
A friend of mine recommended GLO for me due to the lack of MTN service in some parts of my area and cheap data offers and I decided to give it a trial.
When I got the SIM card, everything was working perfectly, I was enjoying the network and then suddenly, it changed. Network became poor, I can't make calls and I can't access the internet speedily.
I did a 4GB data subscription, and I was unable to make use of it till it's expired because of the poor network. It pissed me off, i had to drop the line.
I can't say much about AIRTEL because I only use it as my private line. I don't use it for any other thing, although the network is good but its strength can't be compared to that of MTN in my place.
Even though these networks are good in different places, they are not one hundred percent reliable, they can disappoint us anytime.
Sometime this year, I went to withdraw money from a POS vendor. I did not have an ATM card, it expired, and I did not renew it because I was using my bank's mobile app and digital banks.
After pleading with the vendor to take transfer because most of them don't like transfer due to scam, and he accepted only for me to turn on my data and my MTN network disappeared. It began to fluctuate, the last bar of the network would appear and disappear, until it was totally empty.
I struggled to access my app, to no avail. The funniest part was I had network on my Airtel but I was not having data subscription on it.
In the end, I had to plead with the vendor to hotspot me to make the transaction and to buy data on my AIRTEL line.
We may have favorite network providers that seem reliable, nevertheless, it is best to have other networks too for emergency purposes. We never can tell when our best network will disappoint.
