“Science,” is one word I love right from time. To date, each time i watched movies or pictures about astrologers, medical doctors, engineers and other scientists, I feel alive.
Back then while i was in junior secondary school, even before I could got into senior secondary school, I already started attending science classes because of how I so much love it.
My class master, who was a biology teacher occasionally invited me to his class during my free time and I enjoyed it.
This made it very easy for me, when it was time for me to choose the field I wanted pursue in life.
Going for sciences was never a mistake, it felt like it was a part of me right from the womb.
I wanted to become a medical doctor, but that dream got terminated when I didn't pass my Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) others admired the job because it's lucrative but it was not about the money for me, it was about passion for saving lives and for discovery.
Science is life, today we are enjoying life and finding everything easy all because of science. The next generation will come and find life even more amazing because science is here and willing to turn things around for good.
There is no area of live that sciences has not affected, medicine, art, politics, agriculture, name it all and you would see science in it.
To be frank, there are many things that science has done that I would love to talk about but for the sake of this prompt, I'll go with one.
Before science and technology became popular, our parents believed in tradition, whenever people fell sick, herbs were administered to them based on guess work, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
People died of sicknesses that ought not to destroy them. Some took herbs in quantities that were too much and it also complicated things for them.
People would be sick without knowing what is wrong with them or even how to go about it, if one herb or the other didn't work, they would be left in the mercy of fate.
I heard that there was a time when malaria which most of us in Nigeria see as a common illness destroyed a lot of lives. It hurts because who knows the potential those people who died were carrying? But they are gone anyway.
Women who couldn't deliver on their own due to one challenge or the other died with their babies because there was no way Out.
But today, science is here, we have varieties of drugs addressing different diseases, there is no longer need for a guess work.
There is a provision for a check that will give results for whatever one is suffering from and also the right prescription of medication.
There is also a cesarean section for women who are unable to deliver on their own. A lot of lives are being saved today by science.
And I am happy that each day, amazing inventions are coming up and they are making life even more easy and interesting.
