Gambling, the betting or staking of something of value with consciousness of risk and hope of gain, on the outcome of a game, a contest or an uncertain event. (above definition is according to Google, not mine). From the above definition, I realized that these individuals who gamble knows the kind of risk that's involved in it and the thing is why still indulge in such activities knowing fully well they are bound to loose cash or properties? Well I will say it's the power of addiction.
Have actually come across people who just want to gamble or bet for fun and after sometime backout and I have even seen people who turned gambling/bet into a full time work like they don't go to work just sit at home and arrange tickets for games to be played in a month time. I would honestly say betting for just the fun of it isn't totally wrong although still wrong because from fun it gradually turns into an addiction that's why I will never give it my full support. Now back to what I was trying to say earlier, for peoples who knows what they want in life and just to pick up a one time challenge they can bet just to prove whatever point they are trying to make.
Personally, I had a friend who was an addicted gambler before he literally changed after he met with Christ and his live changed. Before I met this guy I honestly think it's only in the movies we get to see gamblers who would gamble with their houses, school fees, jewelries and other valuables one could think of but then I saw it real with this friend of mine. At first I never knew it was that bad but as time goes on I began to know him better, this guy was well too do and with less responsibilities yet complains being broke all the time like what do you do with your money have asked countless times not until he decided to open up when things went from worst to worst.
His dad works outside the state and as the first male child most of the information was passed to him and this very day his two younger siblings school fees were sent to his account alongside money for housekeep. Rather than doing the right thing he decided to do otherwise by gambling with the money and to cut stories short he lost every single penny. I can only say it was God that saved him from his family members cause it got to the point his dad arrested him but even after all those episodes he never changed and glad one faithful day he accepted Christ and gradually he began to lost interest in the game.
Lastly, people who gamble are full of greed and just want to keep playing even after winning once making them to lose everything at the end. I will advise that gambling should not be considered in the first place as fun but rather flee away from it because it is an appearance of evil.
