Dating can be beautiful, confusing, sweet, and annoying, Sometimes the date will go well while other times you will just regret why you even talked to the person at all. I’ve had both kinds of dates, the one that made me smile and feel special, and the one that made me angry and tired. I am someone who always looks for something good in a guy but no perfection.
One of My Best Date Ever
It happened on a Saturday evening, the weather that day was very nice, not hot at all and I had been talking to this guy for some time. This guy was calm, respectful, and not too forward. He always checked on me, and he never talked too much, I love it when a guy is always composed, with 100% steeze, One day, he just said we should take a walk and eat something small, I liked the way he asked, so I said yes.
He came to my area that evening and picked me up. He came earlier than expected, I wasn't ready at all as a lady now, I was so nervous about picking what to wear not knowing that we just wanted to take a walk around the area and find a better spot to gist for some minutes. After some minutes of delaying the guy I came out of my compound and saw the guy, he looked neat and smelled nice, nothing too loud. We started walking and talking. We talked about life, school, family, and funny things. I noticed that when I talked, he listened. Not the type that will just nod their head.
We later stopped at a small restaurant. The place was not fine like that, but it was clean and quiet. We ordered food and stayed there talking for a long. He was not on his phone. He was not trying to show off or talk about how much money he had. He was just being real. After we ate, we walked again. I didn’t feel rushed. I felt safe. When we got near my house, he said, he enjoyed the outing and he would like to see me again. That was it, he was so simple, I smiled and entered my house. That night, I couldn’t stop smiling. The date made me feel happy and relaxed.
That is how I love my date to be, not too much talk or bragging about what you can never achieve in 20 years, some guys are so full of fake life just to impress a lady on their first date, now let me tell you the worst date ever.
Now to the worst Date ever
This one still annoys me when I remember. I met this guy through a friend, he looked nice and talked big. Always talks about his money, his car, and his business. I didn’t like that, but I said let me give it a try. He asked me out one day, and I agreed. He said he would come by 3pm but this man showed up by 5pm. No sorry, no explanation. He just said, "You know how the traffic can be", I know he was lying because I passed through the same route and there was no traffic.
He took me to a noisy place, a bar where people were shouting, drinking, and smoking. I told him I didn’t feel comfortable, but he laughed and said I should relax. He ordered alcohol for himself and expected me to drink too. I said no and just asked for a soft drink. The whole time, he was just talking about himself his job, his ex, his car, his money. He didn’t even ask me how I was doing. The only thing he asked me was, “You sabi cook?” I just smiled and looked away.
After some time, he said he wanted to pick up a call outside. That’s how he left me there for almost 30 minutes. I was just sitting like Mumu (idiot). When he came back, he said it was his guy that needed help. No sorry, nothing. At that point, I was already fed up. I told him I wanted to go home. He said he would drop me, but I told him not to worry. I found my way home. That night, I blocked his number. I didn’t even want to talk again.
I see a clear difference between the two dates. The best date showed me that good people still exist. You don’t need big money or a fine place to enjoy a date. What matters is how the person treats you. The worst date showed me that I should never force anything. If someone is already giving signs that they don’t respect you, no need to wait. Just move on. Some people only care about themselves.
Now that I’m married, I look back and laugh. But I’m happy I had both experiences. The sweet one showed me what I deserved. The bad one showed me what I should never accept.
