Someone asked me about the word "HODL" and I remembered when it first suddenly started being used back in 2013. A Bitcointalk member and self-confessed "bad trader" by the name of GameKyuubi, was commiserating about an errant girlfriend and the Bitcoin price crashing.
He was juuuust a little tipsy...
The price, which had begun the month at $955, had fallen to $522 by the time our favorite HODLER was about to set out on his night of merriment. Even the bottle of whiskey he cradled was spelled wrong, much to his amusement.
After quaffing said whiskey, he had some shall we say, difficulty playing Mr. Keyboard. This resulted in him misspelling "HOLD" twice, at which point he just said to hell with it and plowed ahead. Not realizing he was about to become a part of crypto history, our here no doubt clambered into bed to sleep it off. But when he awoke...
So THAT, dear friends is where our favorite Hive word cam from and for those of you who want to view a blast from the past, you can see the original message from December, 18, 2013 titled "I AM HODLING" Ain't history grand?
