Hello everyone, welcome to my blog.
If you would ask me all over again, "Favour, what topic would you study in your ideal career path?", I would say again and again, "Literature!"

Why choose Literature?
There are quite a number of reasons why I choose to study literature. To many of us, literature is seen as some written works or books that includes fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction. However, it is important for you to know that literature goes beyond the books; literature is life.
Literature explores human experiences, ideas and even feelings and emotions. It mirrors our lives, thus reflecting and shaping our understanding of the world and ourselves. Literature entertains, educates, inspires and explore complex themes that serve as an important part of human culture and history.

Now, I'll take you on a personal journey as to why literature intrigues me so well.
So far, literature has helped me to understand who I am and why I am a unique and distinct personality. Initially, I saw myself as this weird and not so good personality which badly affected different aspects of my emotional and psychological life.
However, through the reading of several books, I began to see myself as a unique human being that is akin to the idea of being created in the image of God. I stopped to criticise myself for past mistakes and I began to embrace a life of becoming the happiest, kindest and most gracious version of myself.

More importantly, I connected with my most powerful self and began to uncover my true purpose for being. Some of the books I read include: Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest, Atomic Habits by James Clear, You are a Badass by Jen Sincero and many others.
Moreover, literature has greatly impacted my critical thinking skills and intellectual growth. It has taught me on how to write, analyze complex ideas, evaluate arguments, and interpret different viewpoints using the 5W and 1H technique.
I know you are pondering on what 5W and 1H technique means. I'll tell you. It means What, Who, When, Where, Why and How technique. This technique is very essential in creating a proficient, articulate and well-polished writing.
Moving further, with literature, I've had a more nuanced and thoughtful understanding of the world both in the past and of present. I've read several books with the subject matter of history. Even though I was not born during those times, through books, I can boldly say one or two things about some historical facts such as the death of Abraham Lincoln, slavery and colonialism in Africa, the Middle Ages, and many others. Literature did this!

Also, through literature, have been exposed to various traditions, beliefs, and ways of life. It has expanded my knowledge and understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives. I've learnt more about the Yoruba customs and traditions through books like Too Long a Night by Dapo Adeleke, Death and the King's Horseman by Wole Shoyinka, and many others. Thus, literature serve as a powerful tool for transmitting cultural values, traditions, and knowledge across generations.
In general, all I can say is literature goes beyond the books. Literature is life. Literature is you and I. Literature carries an unimaginable power that helps us to understand ourselves, our world, and other mystical creatures in the world. Literature is inspiration. It inspires you and I to join the realm of possibility where great achievers inhale the sweet air of success. Literature intrigues me so well and I would choose to study it again and again.
