Ready for some interdimensional mystery? Fifth Spatial is an NFT collection of both digital and physical collectibles on the WAX and Hive Blockchain. This post contains everything you need to know about the project itself, the Genesis Series and how the initial drop will happen.

Lore / Backstory
In the year 2037, mysterious objects started appearing in remote locations across northern Europe. While substantial efforts and resources were dedicated to their research, the phenomenon was still a complete mystery to science. Though no conclusive evidence of their origin was found, the objects were presumed to originate from a higher dimension. Thus scientists dubbed them 'hyperspatials', a term previously used for referring to interdimensional geometry on a theoretical level.
As the years passed, the mystery of the hyperspatials only deepened. Despite the most advanced technology and the brightest minds working on the problem, both their origin and purpose was yet to be explained. Theories ranged from alien artifacts to natural phenomena beyond human comprehension.
To this day the hyperspatials remains a tantalizing enigma, a reminder of the vastness of the universe and the limits of human knowledge...
Initial Drop - Genesis Series
The project's 1st Edition, the Genesis Series, is immutably limited to 252 packs only. In other words when they sell out, you'll only be able to get them on the secondary market. In the initial drop, one pack will cost 50 $WAXP (approximately $2,5 at the time of writing).
The drop date is set to August 1st July 29th 2023 at 8pm UTC. At this time 230 packs will be made available for purchase on the Drop Page, where you will also see a countdown timer before the drop starts. The remaining 22 packs (mint #1 - #22) will be held back for giveaways and promotions. (Make sure to follow us if you're interested in those!)
Each Genesis Pack contains 3 NFTs; Slot 1 and 2 can contain one of three types of Database Entries in different rarities. The table shows the probabilities for each type.

Slot 3 will always be a Dimensonal Shard. These NFTs will be necessary ingredients to be able to upgrade (or "Blend") your NFTs at a later time.
Note: While Dimensional Shards are abundant in the Genesis Series, they may not be as easy to acquire in subsequent editions.
Collect Database Entries
Each NFT represents a database entry of its depicted hyperspatial. There are several types of database entries, some significantly rarer than others.
In addition to the Basic entries and the Gold Foil versions, Genesis Packs feature 7 extremely scarce 1 of 1 database entries that give benefits beyond their value as unique collectibles; owners of these NFTs will be airdropped Dimensional Shards on an irregular basis (and possibly also other benefits).
Blend (upgrade) your NFTs!
Blending is when you combine more than one NFT to create a new one. You'll easily find our Blends page on the project's landing page on NeftyBlocks (or simply via fifthspatial.com).
In the Fifth Spatial collection, you'll have the option to combine certain NFTs to upgrade them to Limited Edition versions, including (but not limited to) high resolution Digital Posters of each object and the scenery they were discovered in.

Physical Cards - vIRL NFTs
That's right! A very limited number of high quality trading cards has been produced and will be made available through vIRL Redemption NFTs that can only be minted through Blending. These NFTs can be redeemed for a complete set of physical cards from the Genesis Series, that will be sent directly to your mailbox. In addition, one random card in each of these sets be a signed Gold Foil version!

About / Roadmap
Fifth Spatial is a solo project by me, @mightpossibly. I view it as a culmination of many different interests and passions; photography, creativity and creation, nature, digital environments, science fiction and blockchain technology to name a few.
It also serves the purpose of being a very concrete product that I use as inspiration to keep expanding my creativity, knowledge and skill using various digital art software. Before I started this project I had no experience with Blender or After Effects for instance. Working with this has inspired me to keep building my competence, and first on my list right now is to do a full fledged paid training course in Blender to be able to do much more advanced stuff in the future, both for the benefit of Fifth Spatial and for other projects (I'm interested in collaborations by the way!).
All art in the collection was made using a combination of techniques and software like photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Blender. No AI was used.
I do not plan to get rich off of this and neither should you. I have, however, put in a lot of thought in the amount of NFTs being minted and what types, with emphasis on scarcity and exclusivity. For instance, all NFTs in the Genesis Series are "Pre-Minted", meaning no more can ever be minted. The amounts are set in stone (or on the ledger to be more precise).
I can not promise regular updates and new editions, but what I will say is that this is a product of passion, and it is my intention to keep building it, however slowly. And that I certainly have plans for more.
Sources of inspiration / Shoutouts
The lore / backstory draws inspiration from various science fiction works. I'm particularly fascinated by a sub-genre of Sci-Fi called Hard Science Fiction, where the writer tries to be as realistic and scientifically accurate as possible in their fiction. Some of the more prominent works the project draws inspiration from include titles like;
- Remembrance of Earth's Past (novel triology, Cixin Liu, 2008-2010)
- The Redemption of Time (novel, Baoshu, 2011)
- Cube 2: Hypercube (movie, 2002, Sekula)
- Interstellar (movie, Nolan, 2014)
- Sphere (movie, Levinson, 1998)
- Event Horizon (movie, Anderson, 1997)
The concept of the collectibles themselves (the NFTs, the physical redemptions and how the collection is organized), draws inspiration from various WAX creators and projects, but perhaps first and foremost WAX veteran Blockchain Cards (known as @reseller on Hive), who's given me valuable advice and encouragement in this process. Why both WAX and Hive?
WAX does NFTs amazingly well. It's also the only blockchain other than Hive that I actually use on a daily basis. If you're not familiar with WAX at all, the super short version is that it's a decentralized blockchain using a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, with a vibrant and caring community of creators and collectors. While I am planning to do very limited mints of certain NFTs on Hive as well, I would not be able to organize the collection the way I want to, without the power and flexibility of WAX (like packs that can be opened, blending, rarities and other characteristics, etc.).
WAX therefore serves as the main platform for most the NFTs in this collection.
Hive on the other hand, with its immutable database text storage capabilities, serve as the official source of information for the project. All major project updates will always found on the project's Hive account (i.e. this account). Hive also has a very strong and vibrant community, and is likely the most truly decentralized platform/protocol that exists today. If you don't know much/anything about Hive, I can highly recommend the following article to get up to speed; What is Hive.
To give one tiny example of the power of Hive, just have a closer look at all the links in the past 3 paragraphs; They all point to content that is stored on the Hive Blockchain's Layer 1. In other words, one of its core functions is to serve as a decentralized database for immutable text storage. That's pretty impressive. Especially when you got 0 transaction fees!
An additional motivation for involving both chains in the project is of course the potential to bring people from the one over to the other (in whichever direction).
Need a WAX or Hive Account?
You must have a WAX wallet to participate in the Drop and in giveaways. You don't have to own a Hive Account, but I highly recommend it of course.
