The album went on sale by Real World Records, a British record company specialized in world music established in 1989 by Peter Gabriel, original singer of the famous progressive rock band Genesis, and the international art festival WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance), which presents first quality original music regardless of musical genre or geographical origin, and encourages collaboration between the artists involved. What Heat is completely acoustic and was produced, arranged and co-wrote by League, and co-arranged by Buckley, who did a great job transmitting with the orchestra the honesty of Bokanté’s music, with its different musical influences.

The album has an earthy sound with low brass, big strings, spiced up woodwinds and Malika Tirolien’s wonderful voice, and League plays a multitude of instruments, from the Minimoog synthesizer and fretless acoustic bass to oud (Persian lute), bendir (North African and Southwestern Asian drum), riq (Arab tambourine) and the daf frame drum (Kurdish and Persian). The song “Bòd Lanmè Pa Lwen” is offered at the end of the post. The message delivered by Bokanté and the Metropole Orchestra, these two musically gifted outfits, is laced throughout What Heat, and it’s urgent. Injustice is raging all around.
