Hi gorgeous and handsome writers! How are you today! I hope you’re all doing fine. I just want to remind you that you are all beautiful in your ways. You're unique! You're creative! You're talented! You're smart! And your worth doesn't depend on how you look! That's what I mean when I say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
The world is full of so much beauty - flowers, stars, the moon… We have art, music, books and poetry. There are beautiful buildings and monuments all over the world. And yet sometimes we forget how beautiful our own lives are! Your life may not seem that spectacular right now, but it is full of beauty if you look closely enough!
It's so easy to get wrapped up in what other people think about us, and we spend so much time trying to impress them or make them happy. But your happiness should never depend on anyone else's opinion of you. You are who you are and that's good enough! You don't have to change for anybody else or try to be someone you're not just because they don't like the real you.
To be beautiful means to be yourself. If you do so, then there is nothing left for you to strive for, nothing else to reach for, because there is nothing that needs changing. To reach out and touch someone in the way only you can. To make someone laugh with the jokes only you like to tell. To create the art only you can make—and share it with the world.
The truth is, you do not need to strive for perfection. If you want to be beautiful, the only thing you have to do is be yourself. No matter your shape or size, your age or skin tone; no matter who you love or what gender you identify with; no matter what your past was like or what your future looks like—you are beautiful because you are alive. You are a person. You feel pain and joy, grief and happiness and sadness. You love people and places, movies and food and music. You are a story that is unfolding in each moment that passes through your life.
You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. Beauty isn't about the way you look, but how you feel. It's about being yourself and trusting the world to love you for who you are. It's about letting your true inner light shine out through your smile, your eyes, and the way you carry yourself.
When you are born a lotus flower, be a beautiful lotus flower, don't try to be a magnolia flower. So if that means putting on some makeup and getting dressed up, great! If it means simply being yourself, that's great too. As long as you're doing it for you, anything that makes you feel good about yourself makes me happy too.
If you crave acceptance and recognition and try to change yourself to fit what other people want you to be, you will suffer all your life. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. The greatest fear of human beings is the fear of being themselves. Be yourself. No one can ever tell you you’re doing it wrong. True happiness and true power lie in understanding yourself, accepting yourself, having confidence in yourself.
It is time to let go of the people you think you should be and embrace who you are right now, in this moment. The only person who can ever truly accept you is yourself, and until you get there, no one else will. Sure, they might compliment your shoes or tell you that your hair looks nice today, but that doesn't mean they've accepted you as a whole human being.
Accepting yourself means loving all of the good and the bad—the parts of you that make you feel strong and those that bring on shame and embarrassment. You don't even have to like everything about yourself—you just have to acknowledge it as a part of who you are and work with it instead of trying to deny it or get rid of it.
I know that you don't always feel that way about yourself, but you should! Because you're incredible. So I'm writing this note to just break through that wall and tell you what a beautiful person you are. And to remind you that when you see yourself in the mirror today or later this week or at the end of the month, I want you to take a second to smile at yourself and think "hey, I'm pretty amazing."
