I found this movie by chance while I was looking for something to watch on YouTube and until that day I had not seen anything about it, not even any news on Twitter or on YouTube itself and after seeing that first video about Nimona I started to get more information about this movie, even videos about the comparison of the comic by which this movie is based and adapted. I also saw some people who thought this movie was good and visually it looks pretty good, so I decided to watch it because I was specially attracted by its artistic and animation aspect and the truth is that it is not a bad movie, it is entertaining, but from the beginning you can sense who the villain is, how certain events unfolded and even for how the final scene was unfolding I knew it was going to have a "cliché" ending, it is not something that completely ruins the experience, but already sensing certain things of the story it is really a bit disappointing at least in the plot aspect.
Before going into the main plot of this movie and other aspects, one of the things that surprised me when I started watching this movie, is that ANNAPURNA was in charge of finishing this movie and I really didn't know that this studio, which I knew for being a video game distributor, also had a movie section, but anyway, going into the subject of the movie, it tells us that 1000 years before the events of this movie, a great event happened where a "Warrior" was in charge of "eliminating" a great beast that was devastating the kingdom, after her victory, this movie happened. At the beginning it tells us that 1000 years before the events of the movie there was a great event where a "Warrior" was in charge of "eliminating" a great beast that was ravaging the kingdom, after her victory, this "warrior" who would later become the queen of that kingdom, would create a group of soldiers and warriors to protect her kingdom from future threats 1000 years after the event, we find ourselves in a medieval world but with futuristic elements, a little weird that combination, but not bad. The story focuses on a knight who, not being royalty, many people do not esteem him, but logically and as the cliché indicates, he is the best knight and warrior of his group.
However, when the protagonist of this story, along with the other knights were in a ceremony for their decorations, the protagonist's sword is activated with a kind of magic or technology, it is not really something that is clarified in the film and kills the queen unintentionally, before such an act, the love interest of the protagonist, who is also a man, as this film presents a relationship between same-sex couples, by pure instinct of protection towards the queen cuts off the protagonist's arm. After this, chaos is caused in the place and the protagonist has to escape and from that point begins the story of this film. Already from that point you know who sabotaged the protagonist's sword and it is so obvious that when it is revealed near the end it does not cause any kind of impact, because it was too obvious and cliche.
Similarly when the protagonist escapes and is hiding is when the character for which the title is given to this film appears, ie: Nimona, which is a "girl" who has the ability to change shape to whatever she wants and to no one's surprise, she was that being who attacked the kingdom 1000 years ago. And it is so logical and obvious because in the whole movie she is the only character that has "magical" abilities, so to speak", therefore that other relief that I also expected, as well as her "sacrifice" at the end of the movie, to then appear in the final scene just before the credits roll and thus surprising the protagonist to see that she was always alive, but who was not surprised that she was alive at the end was me. It's not a bad movie, it's entertaining, but it has too many clichés and the story is very typical, and of course, movies don't need to have totally surprising plot twists, but it's quite tiring to see always the same clichés and things repeated from other movies like the obvious sacrifice to appear at the end and the character who pretends to be good, but it's obvious that he is the villain of the story. Undoubtedly the best of this film is the character of Nimona, he is funny and his transformations are very witty, as well as its visual and artistic aspect are pretty good, but overall, it is a fairly simple film and does not really contribute much to have many truisms.
Encontré esta película de casualidad mientras buscaba algo que ver por YouTube y hasta ese día no había visto nada sobre ella, ni siquiera alguna noticia en Twitter o en el mismo YouTube y luego de haber visto ese primer video sobre Nimona me empezaron a salir más información sobre esta película, incluso videos sobre la comparación del comic por el cual se basa y se adapta esta película. También vi a algunas personas que les había parecido buena esta película y es que visualmente si se ve bastante bien, por lo que me animé a verla ya que especialmente me llamaba tu su aspecto artístico y de animación y la verdad es que no es una mala película, es entretenida, pero desde el inicio puedes intuir quien es el villano, como se desenvolvieron ciertos eventos e incluso por cómo se iba desembocando la escena final sabía que iba a tener un final “cliché”, no es algo que te arruine por completo la experiencia, pero ya intuyendo ciertas cosas de la historia realmente es un poco decepcionante al menos en el aspecto argumental.
Antes de entrar en el argumento principal de esta película y de otros aspectos, una de las cosas que me sorprendió al empezar a ver esta película, es que ANNAPURNA se encargó de terminar esta película y realmente no sabía que este estudio, el cual lo conocía por ser distribuidora de videojuegos, también tenía una sección de películas, pero en fin, entrando en el tema de la película. Al inicio nos narra que 1000 años antes de los eventos de la película ocurrió un gran evento donde una “Guerrera” se encargó de “eliminar” a una gran bestia que estaba arrasando con el reino, luego de su victoria, esta “guerrera” la cual sería posteriormente la reina de ese reino, crearía un grupo de soldados y guerreros para así proteger a su reino de futuras amenazas 1000 años después de dicho evento, nos encontramos en un mundo medieval pero con elementos futuristas, un poco raro esa combinación, pero no está mal. La historia se centra en un caballero el cual al no ser de la realeza, mucha gente no le tiene estima, pero lógicamente y como el cliché lo indica es el mejor caballero y guerrero de su grupo.
Sin embargo cuando el protagonista de esta historia, junto con los demás caballeros se encontraban en una ceremonia para sus condecoraciones, la espada del protagonista se activa con una especie de magia o tecnología, realmente no es algo que se aclara en la película y mata a la reina sin querer, ante tal acto, el interés amoroso del protagonista, el cual también es hombre, ya que esta película presenta una relación entre parejas del mismo sexo, por puro instinto de protección hacia la reina le corta el brazo al protagonista. Luego de esto se provoca un caos en dicho lugar y el protagonista tiene que escapar y desde ese punto empieza la historia de esta película. Ya desde ese punto ya sabes quién saboteo la espada del protagonista y es tan obvio que cuando se revela casi al final no causa ningún tipo de impacto, porque era demasiado obvio y cliché.
De igual manera cuando el protagonista escapa y está ocultándose es cuando aparece el personaje por el cual se le otorga el título a esta película, es decir: Nimona, la cual es una “niña” que tiene la capacidad de cambiar de forma a lo que ella quiera y para sorpresa de nadie, ella fue ese ser quien ataco al reino hace 1000 años atrás. Y es que es tan lógico y obvio porque en toda la película es el único personaje que tiene habilidades “mágicas”, por decirlo de algún modo”, por lo tanto esa esa otra relevación que también esperaba, así como también su “sacrificio” al final de la película, para luego aparecer en la escena final justo antes que salgan los créditos y de esta forma sorprendiendo al protagonista al ver que siempre estuvo viva, pero al quien no sorprendió que estuviera viva al final fue a mí. En si no es una mala película, es entretenida, pero tiene demasiados clichés y la historia es muy típica, y claro, las películas no necesitan tener giros de tramas totalmente sorpresivos, pero cansa bastante ver siempre los mismos clichés y cosas repetidas de otras películas como el obvio sacrificio para luego aparecer al final y el personaje que se hace pasar por bueno, pero es una obviedad que es el villano de la historia. Sin dudas lo mejor de esta película es el personaje de Nimona, es divertido y sus transformaciones son muy ocurrentes, así como también su aspecto visual y artístico están bastante bien, pero en términos generales, es una película bastante sencilla y que realmente no aporta mucho al tener muchas obviedades.
