Hello there my Splinterlands friends,
How are you all? I hope you all are doing great.
The 12th Splinterlands card Immortalis airdrop concluded and as usual, I didn't get anything against my tiny 11 CL purchase.
I want to congratulate those who got the Immortalis airdrop card.
I look forward to fighting battles against this summoner.
I've been actively playing Splinterlands for more than one and a half years.
In this vast time frame, I encountered various card combos by the opponent. At the same time, I created my own working combos for various rulesets.
The cards' abilities play a very vital role in creating those combos. So, to create a working combo, you should know the basics of the abilities of the cards you're using.
In the Exploring Abilities series, I discuss various abilities and their use cases. And in this article, I'll explore a really useful ability that helped win numerous battles, the Divine Shield ability.

I'll discuss the right ruleset/scenario where we can use the Divine Shield ability effectively with an example of the best battle.
So, read on...

A Few Words About The Divine Shield Ability
Divine Shield, an ability that makes a monster ignore the first attack it takes which applies to all the attacks except poison.
This ability is really useful and in certain rulesets, it turns into a battle-winning factor, because it doesn't matter how big was the attack, it'll be ignored.
Though this ability doesn't work against poison, you still have an advantage if you can beat a few attacks using the divine shield.
Monsters Having The Divine Shield Ability
A total of 9 monsters have the divine shield ability that activates on certain levels. Out of these 9 monsters, the Divine Sorceress, Robo-Dragon Knight, and, Spirit Shaman have the divine ability activated from level 1.
The other monsters that possessed the divine shield ability, are
Bila the Radiant - divine shield activates from level 2.
Sacred Unicorn - divine shield activates on top i.e level 4.
Epona - divine shield activates from level 2.
Baby Unicorn - divine shield activates on top i.e level 10.
Pelacor Conjurer - divine shield activates from level 7.
Kron the Undying - divine shield activates from level 2.
Among the summoner, Lorna Shine is the only summoner that provides the divine ability to the friendly team.
Rulesets Where The Divine Shield Ability Can Work Effectively
Now, I'll discuss the scenarios/rulesets where the divine shield ability works great.
In The 'little league' Ruleset
The 'divine shield' ability is equally useful in all rulesets, but it's most useful in the little league ruleset.
In the little league ruleset, we have a limited option to choose cards from. and those too within 4 mana cost.
In general, those cards have low health (there are few exceptions though). Thus, saving friendly monsters from the attack of the enemy team becomes very important.
With the 'divine shield' ability, the first attack is always neglected. Therefore, a lot of damage can be saved.
In Low Mana-Cap Battles
Just like the 'little league' ruleset, in low mana-cap battles, we have limited options to choose cards as we don't want to spend all the mana in one or two cards.
So we have to choose useful cards that are costs low mana. And low mana cards are generally low in health.
That's why protecting cards from enemy attack becomes equally important just like the 'little league' ruleset.
And the 'divine shield' ability helps to save a few attacks, thus the friendly team lasts long for a few more rounds.
In The 'back to basics' Ruleset
In the 'back to basics' ruleset, monsters lose all their abilities. Therefore, to attack from the second line, you must use either the ranged attack monsters or the magic attack monsters.
A good strategy here is to use at least 4 magic attack monsters and one or two melee attack monsters with good health as a tank and put the highest magic attack monster in the last position to ensure attacking the enemy team till the final round.
As always, the 'divine shield ability helps to prevent a few attacks, and the friendly monsters survive a few extra rounds.
In The 'earthquake' Ruleset
In the 'earthquake' ruleset, each of the non-flying monsters gets 2 melee damage starting each round.
But with the 'divine shield' ability, it's ensured that the first 'earthquake' damage is protected.
In The 'unprotected' Ruleset
In the 'unprotected' ruleset, monsters on either team do not have any armor and do not get armor from abilities or summoner Buffs. Thus monsters are open to any direct attack.
The 'divine shield' ability works very efficiently in this situation as it's act like armor and your team get advantage on battle.
I found the 'divine shield' ability most useful in this ruleset.
Below I shared a battle where I used the 'divine ability' in the 'unprotected' ruleset.
Apart from the above conditions and rulesets, the 'divine shield' ability is equally effective in all situations. Because saving an attack is equally important as making an attack and sometimes more.

THE BATTLE
Now, it's time to share my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won using the Divine Shield ability effectively.
ps. I'm sharing this battle of my alt account.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
The Divine Shield ability never fails to amaze me.
My opponent didn't think that all his best attacker monsters will destroy first. But this is the beauty of using the 'sneak' attack monsters.
The Silvershield Knight increased the melee attack of all the team monsters and the Creeping Ooze neutralized the +1 speed buff of the summoner Lux Vega.
Moreover, the Divine Shield saved some big damage from the enemy team and ensured the longer survival of the team.
This is how I won the battle.

And that's all for today, guys.
