Currently I don't have some tools that I used to use in Venezuela, like a light ring, for example. I was planning to buy one but it turns out that my brother had one at home that was just lying around, it was even deteriorated, in bad condition, damaged according to him.

Well, I looked for it and started to examine it, to see how it was and to see if I could really fix it.

Actualmente no poseo algunas herramientas que solía utilizar en Venezuela, como un aro de luz, por ejemplo. Tenía pensado comprarme uno pero resulta que mi hermano tenía uno en casa que estaba simplemente tirado por ahí, incluso estaba deteriorado, en mal estado, dañado según él.

Pues bien, lo busqué y empecé a examinarlo, a ver que tal estaba y ver si podía realmente arreglarlo.

It had many faults, to begin with, the ring as such did not turn on, as it had some loose contacts. This repair was not done by me, that's why I couldn't take some pictures, but I simply soldered two electronic contacts.

On the other hand, once the led ring was in place, I turned my attention to the white protective cover of the light ring, which was broken. I didn't want to put it back like that, so I cut the broken parts and left them straight, for a future decoration I plan to do to it.

Tenía muchas fallas, para empezar, el aro como tal no encendía, pues tenía algunos contactos flojos. Esta reparación no la hice yo, por eso no pude tomar algunas fotografías, pero simplemente se le soldaron dos contactos electrónicos.

Por otra parte, ya cuando el aro donde están los led estuvo en su lugar, desvié mi atención a la cubierta protectora blanca del aro de luz, que estaba rota. No quería volver a colocarlo así, por eso corté las partes rotas y las dejé rectas, para una futura decoración que planeo hacerle.

On the other hand, to glue that white protective ring, with the black frame, I used a resistant glue that my dad had at home. To make it clear, it's shoe glue, but the good kind.

Por otra parte, para pegar ese aro protector blanco, con el armazón negro, usé una pega resistente que tenía mi papá en casa. Para que se entienda, es pega de zapatos, pero de la buena.

I put a little bit around the two pieces, being careful not to get it on the electrical components. Finally I put the pieces together and it was firmly glued. Then you have to wait for a while for it to dry before using it, just be patient.

Le coloqué un poco en el alrededor de las dos piezas, con cuidado de que no le cayera a los componentes eléctricos. Finalmente uní las piezas y quedó firmemente pegada. Después hay que esperar por un tiempo a que se seque antes de usarlo, solo resta ya tener paciencia.

Something I also did was to repair the joint between the head of the ring and the thread that had the ring itself to join both pieces. They were broken, in fact it is something that usually gets damaged quickly in these light rings.

I had already done something similar, so I will not explain it in this post; however, I will leave a publication where I made a repair of this type:

Algo que también hice fue reparar la unión entre el cabezal del aro y la rosca que tenía el propio aro para unirse ambas piezas. Estaban rotas, de hecho es algo que suele dañarse rápido en estos aros de luz.

The moment of truth arrived. I connected the ring to the power and started testing. I honestly didn't know it had so many light modalities, so I was delighted when I saw all the colors it could show.

It had several types of white light, plus blue, pink, yellow, yellow, red and green light. In the GIF below you can even see a combination of all these colors.

Llegó la ora de la verdad. Conecté el aro a la energía y comencé a hacer las pruebas. Sinceramente no sabía que tenía tantas modalidades de luz, así que quedé encantado cuando vi todos los colores que podía mostrar.

Tenía varios tipos de luz blanca, además de luz azul, rosa, amarilla, roja y verde. En el GIF de abajo pueden ver incluso una combinación de todos estos colores.

For some reason it had bent tripod legs, so it couldn't stand upright either. These pieces are three thin sheets of metal that connect to a main post. These were bent so they couldn't do much strength, they needed to be straightened so they could support the whole frame.

Por algún motivo tenía las patas del trípode dobladas, por eso tampoco se podía mantener de pie. Estas piezas son tres láminas delgadas de metal que se conectan a un poste principal. Estas estaban dobladas así que no podían hacer mucha fuerza, era necesario enderezarlas para que pudieran sostener todo el armazón.

For this I used a thick pliers, with which I began to squeeze each side of the small metal sheets until I managed to get them back to their original shape.

It is not easy, but with patience you can get all these pieces to look good. And this is necessary not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for functional ones.

Para esto usé un alicate grueso, con el que comencé a apretar cada lado de las pequeñas láminas de metal hasta que logré que volvieran a su forma original.

No es fácil, pero con paciencia se puede lograr que todas estas piezas queden bien. Y esto es necesario no solo por algo meramente estético, sino que es funcional.

In this way the light ring not only managed to light up, but could finally stand up and be stable. Below is the final result of this repair:

De esta manera el aro de luz no solo logró encender, sino que finalmente se podría poner de pie y estar estable. A continuación el resultado final de esta reparación:

Well friends, this has been all for now. You could say that I already have a light ring and this makes me very happy. Now I just need a work table to start making my sculptures.
