Welcome everyone to my blog and another entry in the splinterlands art contest. This week I wanted to practice molding a female body again. It doesn't always look good to me because there are times when I don't get the proportions right, but the idea is to keep practicing until everything looks just right.
The card I was inspired by this week is one called Bila The Radiant. Although she is quite lovely, I wanted to give her a more rustic, warrior look. Below you can see the character card and the sculpture I made.
Sean bienvenidos todos a mi blog y a otra participación en el concurso de arte de splinterlands. Esta semana quise volver a practicar el moldeado de un cuerpo femenino. No siempre me queda bien porque hay ocasiones en las que no logro las proporciones correctas, pero la idea es continuar practicando hasta que todo quede bien.
La carta en la que me inspiré esta semana es una llama Bila The Radiant. Aunque es bastante encantadora, yo quise darle una apariencia más rústica y de guerrera. Abajo pueden ver la carta del personaje y la escultura que yo hice.

Step by step
As I told you, this sculpture is a little different from the original one, because I tried to give it a different style, keeping the character's own features.
The materials I used for the figure were the following:
- Wire
- Threads
- Paper
- Glue
- Plasticine
- Paint
With the wire, thread, glue and paper I made the skeleton, which you can see below.
Paso a paso
Como ya les dije, es una escultura un poco distinta a la original, pues busqué darle un estilo distinto, manteniendo los rasgos propios del personaje.
Los materiales que utilicé para la figura fueron los siguientes:
- Alambre
- Hilos
- Papel
- Pegamento
- Plastilina
- Pintura
Con el alambre, el hilo, el pegamento y el papel hice el esqueleto, el cual pueden ver a continuación.
Rather than a moving figure, I wanted to make this sculpture as a sort of fixed statuette, with the legs together, so the skeleton resembles a pole, rather than the skeleton I would use for a woman.
In fact, notice how I started to cover the pole with plasticine, as a single piece. The legs I would mold later, but the two would go together on the same support. The arms, on the other hand, were well separated from the torso. I also covered them with plasticine.
Más que una figura en movimiento, quise hacer esta escultura como una suerte de estatuilla fija, con las piernas juntas, por eso el esqueleto se asemeja a un poste, más que al esqueleto que usaría para una mujer.
De hecho, fíjense cómo comencé a cubrir el poste con plastilina, como una única pieza. Las piernas las moldearía después, pero las dos irían juntas en el mismo soporte. Los brazos, por otra parte, sí estaban bien separados del torso. También los cubrí con plastilina.

For the arms I used a knitting needle, with which I molded the shoulders, then the biceps, triceps and forearm. The wrists and hands were the last things I molded, using a pin.
Para los brazos usé una aguja de tejer, con la cual moldeé los hombros, posteriormente los biceps, triceps y el antebrazo. Las muñecas y las manos fueron las últimas cosas que moldeé, haciendo uso de un alfiler.

On the chest I molded the breasts and softened them enough to make them look like tight-fitting clothes, not the woman's bare skin. The idea was to make a garment that covers them, I'll show you later.
En el pecho le moldeé los senos y los suavicé lo suficiente para que pareciesen ropa ceñida, no la piel descubierta de la mujer. La idea era hacer una prenda que los cubra, ya les mostraré más adelante.
As I told you, I molded the legs together, on the same central wire support. All this piece of plasticine that looked like an inverted cone I started to reduce it, removing pieces of plasticine until I left only what I needed, keeping the base shape of the female body.
Como les dije, las piernas las moldeé juntas, en el mismo soporte central de alambre. Todas esta pieza de plastilina que parecía un cono invertido lo comencé a reducir, retirando trozos de plastilina hasta dejar solo la que necesitaba, manteniendo la forma base del cuerpo femenino.

I wanted to make the base a kind of energy that springs from the feet of the young woman, hence her feet are not visible and are surrounded by this golden mass, which is the very energy that comes out of the woman's feet.
Quería hacer de base una suerte de energía que brotara de los pies de la joven, de ahí que sus pies no se vean y estén rodeados de esta masa dorada, que es la propia energía que sale de los pies de la mujer.

Once the base was ready, I began to make the dividing lines of the woman's body, that is, the garments that I would paint white. Below you can see all the lines I made, with the help of a pin, on the woman's chest and waist.
I also placed the sphere where the face would be, which I began to mold immediately.
Una vez lista la base, comencé a hacer las líneas divisorias del cuerpo de la mujer, es decir, las prendas que pintaría del blanco. Abajo pueden ver todas las líneas que hice, con ayuda de un alfiler, en el pecho y la cintura de la mujer.
También coloqué la esfera donde estaría el rostro, la cual comencé a moldear de inmediato.

Remember the piece of wire that sticks out of the back of the sculpture? Well, this support is for a piece of plasticine that simulates a skirt.
On this support I placed a thin layer of material. I tried to make it thin enough, but thick enough not to break. I also placed a piece of plasticine on the front of the waist, which covered the middle of the two legs.
Below you can see how it turned out:
¿Recuerdan la pieza de alambre que sobre sale de la parte trasera de la escultura? Pues este soporte es para un trozo de plastilina que simularía una falda.
Sobre este soporte coloqué una delgada capa de material. Traté que fuese lo suficientemente delgada, pero lo suficientemente gruesa para no romperse. También coloqué un trozo de plastilina en el frente de la cintura, que cubría el medio de las dos piernas.

At this point I started painting everything that needed to be painted, adding the white and gold to all areas of the sculpture. This is the most time consuming part, as you have to wait for the paint to dry before applying each layer.
Ya en este punto comencé a pintar todo lo que debía pintar, agregando el blanco y el dorado a todas las áreas de la escultura. Es la parte más tardada, pues hay que esperar que la pintura seque para aplicar cada capa.

I also placed the hair on the support that the head had behind it. I hung it from the wire and began to mold it, stretching it as much as I could and making lines along the plasticine piece to simulate the hair.
On the other hand, on the forehead I made several strands of hair, placing much larger pieces. To these I also made thin lines to give that hair-like appearance.
El cabello lo coloqué también en el soporte que la cabeza tenía detrás. Lo colgué del alambre y comencé a moldear, estirándolo lo más que pude y haciendo líneas a lo largo de la pieza de plastilina para simular el cabello.
Por otra parte, en la frente hice varios mechones de cabello, colocando piezas muchas más grande. A estas también les hice líneas delgadas para dar esa apariencia parecida al cabello.

Then I began to paint. I want to clarify that although the original character does not have blond hair, I thought it was appropriate to paint it gold to give it that peculiar shine that can be seen in the card.
Luego comencé a pintar. Quiero aclarar que aunque el personaje original no es de cabello rubio, me pareció adecuado pintarlo de color dorado para darle ese brillo tan peculiar que se aprecia en la carta.
Although at this point I had already finished the face, I wanted to do it again and gave her that warrior face, much more annoying and rustic, mostly because I didn't like how the previous face looked.
Aunque en este punto ya había terminado el rostro, quise hacerlo de nuevo y le di esa cara de guerrera, mucho más molesta y rústica, más que todo porque no me gustaba cómo se veía el rostro anterior.
