There are some things I plan to do next year that are not necessarily goals, but I don't want to call them New Year Resolutions either, because that is already a notion emptied of meaning.
I will assign some probabilities to the likelihood of my consistency in following the plan throughout the entire year or just every once in a while and see if I'm right or if I can beat those odds. It's the first time I do this, so we'll see if I'm right or not.
1. New Regular Post on Sundays, Move Hive-Goals post to Mondays
The Hive-goals post is a pretty data-heavy post and sometimes needs significant prep work and activity before actually writing it. And some of it needs to be done on the day when you publish your post, to have the current snapshot of your holdings in the update. So you can't really pre-write it and schedule it if you want the weekend mostly off.
And there have been situations when I turned down going out on Sunday because I had this monster post to write. My family doesn't like it, and to be honest, neither do I.
So, next year, my Hive goals posts will be published on Mondays for the week prior. I actually had this idea after I activated my weekly curation and author reward notifications on discord, and I see them Monday morning.
Saturdays remain the time for my Splinterglossary update. This is a light writing post, but it's based on a week-long work.
And on Sundays, instead of the Hive goals post, I'll have a different regular post.
It will most likely be a week-in-review kind of post, probably titled "Week through the lenses of Adrian".
Topics will include Hive, probably crypto, and maybe sometimes things outside crypto.
While this kind of content usually requires some time to research, the advantage compared to the Hive goals post is it can be prepared in advance, if necessary.
Probability of consistently doing it throughout 2023: 99.5% :)
2. Eating More Carefully
First of all, I don't have a weight problem... yet. That's not why I'm doing this.
But as I reached my mid-forties, I discovered I don't tolerate well all sorts of foods, especially in combinations. Oh yeah, and despite not gaining weight, shapes aren't what they used to be, lol. Not that I'm expecting to look like in my 20s till I die, but still...
So, I want to be more careful about what I eat, how much and especially about their combinations.
While I haven't tried any diet before (and I'm not really interested in something like that), I've been following quite strict restrictions for over 20 years, and part of them are based on what I cannot eat or drink.
So, I am pretty confident I would succeed with this plan.
Probability of consistently doing it throughout 2023: 90%
3. Walking More
A few years back I was very consistently using actifit and most of that activity came from walking.
But at least in the past year that activity dropped significantly for me. And before, because then there were lockdowns and restrictions.
While I probably won't start using actifit again, because that's an addiction in itself, I want to walk more next year. By more, I mean more often because when I do I walk quite a distance.
But of the three plans, this one is the one I'll assign the lowest probability of success.
Probability of consistently doing it throughout 2023: 30%
Probability of occasionally doing it: 90%
As I said, these are not goals. Besides the first one, which is very precise, on the other two, I give myself plenty of liberty. I wonder how I'll choose to use that liberty next year. Will they end up failing like 99% of New Year Resolutions, or will I be in the 1% who will see some improvement from this?
How about you? Any plans/changes for next year (not necessarily specific, measurable goals)?
