As someone invested in land on Splinterlands, and talking about land quite often, I feel, like most of my landholder mates, disappointed by the new delay in releasing Land 1.5.
The decision was made after discovering some potential attack vectors to the game economy by crafting the "right" transactions (custom JSONs), that needed urgent fixing before the game went live.
From my understanding, after listening to the Town Square with Matt, most of these critical issues were fixed by the time he went on air, but either there was still something left that was critical enough, or they weren't comfortable doing the release without a proper testing period after these changes.
Either way, despite the disappointment of yet another delay, if I were in their shoes, I would have done the same. Since Thanksgiving is next week for those celebrating it, including many of the Splinterlands team, the release was pushed back by 2 weeks to November 28th.
As a content creator who writes about Splinterlands and the Land Expansion every once in a while, I don't feel comfortable saying the thing is going to be released at a date only to show up the next day to say something else. Even when they have justified reasons, it can't be easy for them to show up with this kind of message and take the heat and sometimes see some support for their actions but still feel everyone's disappointment (including their own, I suppose).
I don't know if this will make sense to you, but even if I wasn't fully prepared for Land 1.5 to be released today, I was ready and excited.
To be honest, I believe the more prepared you are when the game starts, the fewer things you'll have to do after a while, and you will get bored sooner of Land 1.5.
If you are not fully prepared, then you still need to unlock plots and get better workers well after the release, and that keeps you active and with a goal, other than harvesting rewards and eventually putting them into the (future) LP.
I guess on November 28th we'll all be a little more prepared.
It'll also be around the time when Rebellion will become available on the Mavs test server, a week before Rebellion launch, and probably around the date when the Land 2.0 draft will be published.
If things remain set in stone, we'll have a busy schedule at the end of November, and the beginning of December, just considering Splinterlands...
