Let's see what we have for this week's roundup.
Week on Hive
Leofinance: Their 1st DHF Proposal Focused on Marketing and Onboarding Active Users
Khal and the Leofinance team never made a secret from saying they want Leofinance to become the Everything App on Hive and now we found out they have a 10-year plan for that to happen mostly with private funding (Khal's money, from my understanding - note a reply by @anomadsoul on this topic on the proposal post).
The DHF Proposal they just made is not aimed to fund development or maintenance of the Everything App or anything connected, it's focused on marketing. With clear targets, a quick-and-easy onboarding process that Leofinance already has from X (details here) or Google to Hive lite accounts, with possibility to take ownership of the actual associated Hive account at a later time, with coming training/introduction of those newly onboarded to the broader Hive ecosystem, and with a guaranteed refund to the DHF if targets are not met, this indeed seems like an incredibly hard to not vote for proposal, even for those who are generally highly circumspect.
New Development Update from Blocktrades
As always, a development update from Blocktrades includes a lot of topics. I'd highlight 3 of them:
- more work on HAF query supervisor to prevent rogue queries consuming too many resources (as part of the prerequisites for a smart contract platform based on HAF)
- a new codebase to replace Condenser is being worked on and has been since the beginning of the year (it's about time!)
- more work on BeeKeeper, a tool for managing encryption keys and generating/signing Hive transactions (new WASM-based version)
Coach Abilities Revealed for Genesis League Goals
Last week I forgot to include the launch of the GLG gameplay in the news... I make up this week by adding the post revealing the coach abilities, which seem to be better received than the rough gameplay without any abilities involved. But I don't follow GLG closely, so I may be wrong on how investors and players involved look at everything.
SPS DAO Treasury Report is Out
Since we are at Splinterlands, let's move on to the SPS DAO Treasury Report.
Since the previous report, the major changes are that:
- SPS Foundation changed the market maker on CEXes, which involved some refunds and a new contract being signed and paid for
- over 33m unclaimed SPS airdrops were moved to the SPS DAO
- Around 42m DEC have been earned by the DAO from the Riftwatchers pack sales
Life of Hive
Another Side of Africa
Probably sick of the wrong impressions (and starting from a pretty smart tiktok video), @collinz decided to show us another side of Africa. The "civilized" one, while keeping in touch with traditions. I use civilized in quotes because sometimes one has to wonder what civilization really is.
Hive Sucre Teaching How to Use QR Codes with Keychain
I admit I didn't translate the Spanish-only text of the post. But I watched the video at the end, which had an English subtitle. I invite you to see it, it's pretty cool to see how things evolve for HBD payments over there.
Exploring the Integration of Hive Blockchain with Mobile Money in Ghana
@mcsamm is exploring an interesting avenue in one of his posts from this week. Mobile money is a big thing in Africa. And therefore, there are strong networks of mobile money vendors. If they can be persuaded to integrate in the Hive blockchain with mobile money, and present it to their customers, that could be a big deal.
This Kid Reminds Me of Myself
I didn't include this kind of posts in this section before, but I couldn't resist it. I use the pretext that the haircut is paid for with HBD. Otherwise, kid loves getting a haircut as much as I did when I was his age, lol.
Terracore Updates
Terracore, one of the latest popular games on Hive, announced the introduction of a new type of consumable item - potions, that can be found by fight bosses.
Writing Contest for dCity
... to win the influencer card and SIM tokens. Details in the post.
Serfdom & Sorcery Update
I like these short aggregated posts with details about small changes over a given amount of time (about two weeks in this case).
Week in the Crypto World
WorldCoin to Help Crypto Adoption?
At the expense of probable future loss of freedoms, WorldCoin, if it lifts off, will increase the adoption of crypto. At some point we will realize we keep getting bad deals to increase crypto adoption or to pump our bags...
Privacy in the Crypto Space is Often Disregarded
That's why I like when I see a news like this, which goes in the opposite direction, and makes transactions less easy to track. Note: I have no idea if it works.
