Peer pressure can be defined as a situation whereby friends or age grades starts to influence ones action either positively or negatively.
Today,peer pressure is mainly focused from the teenagers and above.A teenager is someone who is between the range of 14_19years of age.
A teenager is also someone who has grown in to the puberty stage.
What is puberty??
Puberty is a short span of age when girls and boys start having body development and body changes which shows they are getting sexually matured for the future.
Characteristics of puberty in Boys include,
1.Their voice gets deeper
2.Muscles develop
3.Hair grows in the armpit and pubic region
4.Enlargement of the male reproductive organ(Penis)
- Development of the spermatozoa
- Emotional thinking.Etc.
When a boy's starts developing these things,he is said to be a teenager, and as such peer pressures are certain.
Characteristics of puberty in girls.
1.Enlargement of the hips
2.Breasts becomes bigger.
3.Menstruation starts
4.Sexual feelings develop
5.Hair grows in the armpit and pubic region.Etc.
When a female child starts seeing these things,she is said to be a full grown woman.
Peer pressure often starts from the teenagers,those who are still entangled with friends and so much trust friends and this makes it easier for peer pressure to step in.
Peer pressure is a situation whereby friends of the same age grades influence one's choice or action.
Peer pressure is sub divided into two which are the positive peer pressure and the Negative peer pressure.
What is Positive peer pressure??
The positive peer pressure is a type of peer pressure whereby friends influence one positively that is to say they influenced one in a good way.Positive peer pressure encourages one to live up to God's standard of living set by his son Jesus Christ, it also encourages one to be a role models for others to follow, positive peer pressure encourages one to make good decisions that will be of help in the future and finally they impact positive attitude to someone.
What is negative peer pressure? Negative peer pressure is a type of peer pressure that influence one negatively in an no ungodly way. Positive peer pressure influences one to deviate from the good aspect of life to the bad aspect of life.
Negative peer pressure changes one from good to bad and may even get to worst.It leads one astray.
Negative peer pressure has lured many youths Into doing what is uncultful which is not acceptable to the society and is not among the laws of the land.
Like they say,bad association spoils useful habits. Some bad characters like prostitution,armed robbery, intake of hard drugs like cocaine, marijuana etc, lying, stealing, cheating, bribery and corruption etc are mostly caused by Negative peer pressure.
