As I always says Parenting is not easy, as the child grow the impression of his/her up - bringing play a critical role in the nature of a child. Here I world like to add that its also not easy to be child. A child is like a clean slate and its up to the parents, what they want to write on the slate. For parents understanding their children and make them disciplined is big challenge and on the same way its also challenge for children's to make their parents understand their requirement and needs. Here requirements belongs to their wishes and the needs belongs to the actually what is require. When I was a kid I always want to be adult so that I can do what every I want without any restriction, I guess we all have similar fillings. But when I grown up I start understanding that actually I was free when I was a kid and now I have more restriction (directly or indirectly).
Every child has their own nature and thinking and when it comes to making them disciplined then their are highly chance that they behave differently. In out family itself we will find sufficient examples when the same method used on one kids failed for the others. So to understanding the nature and sociology of the child is very important. In our family we (me and my wife)made one rule, when every one of us is sticky with our children's (because of any reason) the other will always be soft. This always give chance to the kids to express their view point and they talk freely. Its not necessary that its always the fault of the children's when they behave indiscipline, some time its because of some solid reason or may be a mistake or may be misunderstanding also. In this way it mix of the authoritative and the polite nature. Obvious the one method may not be fit for all scenario and here the experience of parents come into picture. If you have more then one children then you already have a good experience of parenting and you can handle such situations more effectively. Some time we also try to use the method used by our parents, but form my own experience, I must say that the children's are very sensitive now days and culture of having one or two children raised many concern also. The child get more pampering and that become the one big reason that are undisciplined.
When we were kids our parents scold u many time if we do some mistake or our behavior was not good some time we get flogged
also. But this method do not work well now days. Form my person experience what I observed form the surrounding, scolding and hitting the children or flogged make the stubborn and after some time they do not even react to your action. At initial you may find this as a easy way to make them disciplined and most of the time it worked also but in long run it gives the negative results. The elder son of one of my cushion has similar problem, he always punish his son when every he do some mistake or disobey, and some time slapped also but now days his son does not mind if he get scolded by his father. Many time her reply also that I know you just want to scold me and I do not have any other choice other then getting scored by you. Those words shows that the method used give very bad impression on his mind.
We have two children the elder is girl and the younger is boy (new member in our family). The girl is going to complete seven year next month. If I feel she is not doing something wrong we always try to Convery her politely and she does not listen them I show that I am displeased I start avoiding her and start less responsive to her. In this way she quickly learned that something is wrong. I found this very effective. And if the situation arise when have to be harsh then we always make sure that one out of us should be polite with her to tell her mistake she has done.
