As we all know, every relationship has its ups and downs (moments of joy intertwined with challenges), however, when the balance tips towards despair, dissatisfaction or even physical/psychological damage, the cost of staying becomes immense (and in most cases unsustainable)...

And although many people resist, hoping for a change or simply for fear of earning the label of a "failed" relationship by our funny society (there's a little bit of sarcasm here hahah), staying out of obligation or fear is a nonstop journey to a relationship full of pain and unhappiness. For this "simple reason", recognizing when a relationship no longer aligns with your wellbeing is the first step to taking a transformative and empowering action.

In the midst of a stormy relationship, it's easy to lose sight of your self-worth, which is why by walking away you can learn to understand what you deserve:
Respect, love and happiness.
A relationship that lifts you up, supports you, and treasures you....
It is the beginning of a reaffirmation of your values, needs and desires (recognizing that you should never settle for less than what you truly deserve).
It is the opportunity to rediscover yourself, to rebuild your life on your own terms and embrace the "possibilities" (those that were once forgotten under the weight of an oppressive relationship), remembering that although your first steps may be full of challenges, the horizon will always be full of hope, happiness, growth and even love.

This is when you truly begin to take control of your destiny to "claim and work for your autonomy".
And although it is a decision that, in most cases is very painful, it will help you stimulate personal growth at a "deep" level, because every tear shed and every challenge you face after your departure, will help you build resilience, strength and a deeper understanding of your being.
It's setting off a chain reaction, because your decisions will also help inspire your friends, family and even people you know little or nothing about, but who are in similar situations, In short, "you will become an example of courage, strength and hope to all who seek that change."

In addition, that person you left behind (if he/she wishes and acts for it), will be able to reflect and evolve on a personal level to understand the implications of his/her actions (this is essential to enjoy a future relationship, healthy or without the same mistakes of that past relationship).
This is when your world is transformed "in unexpected ways":
Rekindling passions you had left behind, deeper connections with loved ones, and even the beginning of new adventures (romantic or otherwise), with a deeper understanding of your wants and needs.
It is a time of introspection, learning and rebuilding (realizing that there will always be a tomorrow and that with each passing day, the pain will lessen to be replaced by new experiences, lessons and a strengthened sense of your identity).
And although ensuring that journey with an uncertain destination, but "safe and healthy", is not always an easy task (especially if you come from a relationship with narcissistic tendencies), these may be some steps to consider (also recognizing that each person is different):
Having a safe space (whether through professional therapy, having a support system with family or friends is vital).
Learning to set boundaries (if communication is unavoidable, this will allow you to avoid relapses or conflicts that can escalate and affect you further).
Engage in activities that nourish your soul (whether it is reading, traveling, exercising or engaging in a hobby).
And while this journey is always full of emotions (some more pleasant than others), it is worth taking that step of faith for you and for a richer, fuller life.

Pero primero quiero aclarar que mi publicación “no está escrita desde el despecho” (solo quiero hacerte reflexionar).
Y es que en determinados momentos, dar un paso atrás puede convertirse en la acción más transformadora que podrás emprender, para iniciar un viaje de que solo tú puedes y deberás hacer (si deseas evolucionar como persona claro).
Como todos ya sabemos, cada relación tiene sus altibajos (momentos de alegría entrelazados con desafíos), sin embargo, cuando la balanza se inclina hacia la desesperación, insatisfacción o incluso al daño físico/psicológico, el costo de quedarse se vuelve inmenso (y en la mayoría de los casos insostenible)…

Y aunque muchas personas resistan, esperando un cambio o simplemente por el temor de ganarse la etiqueta de una relación "fallida" por nuestra divertida sociedad (aquí hay un poquito de sarcasmo jaj), quedarse por obligación o miedo es un viaje sin escalas hacia una relación llena de dolor e infelicidad. Por esta “simple razón”, reconocer cuando una relación ya no se alinea con tu bienestar, es el primer paso para tomar una acción empoderadora y transformadora.

En medio de una relación tormentosa, es fácil perder de vista tu autovalor, es por eso que al alejarte podrás aprender a comprender qué mereces:
Respeto, amor y felicidad.
Una relación que te eleve, te apoye y te atesore…
Es dar inicio a una reafirmación de tus valores, necesidades y deseos (reconociendo que nunca debes conformarte con menos de lo que realmente mereces).
Es la oportunidad de redescubrirte, para reconstruir tu vida según tus propios términos y abrazar las “posibilidades” (esas que antes estaban en el olvido por el peso de una relación opresiva), recordando que aunque tus primeros pasos pueden estar llenos de desafíos, el horizonte siempre estará lleno de esperanza, felicidad, crecimiento e incluso amor.

Es cuando empiezas verdaderamente a tomar el control de tu destino para “reclamar y trabajar por tu autonomía”.
Y aunque sea una decisión que, en la mayoría de los casos es muy dolorosa, te ayudará a estimular un crecimiento personal a un nivel “profundo”, porque cada lágrima derramada y cada desafío que enfrentes después de tu partida, te ayudará a construir resistencia, fuerza y una comprensión más profunda de tu ser.
Es activar una reacción en cadena, porque tus decisiones también ayudarán a inspirar a tus amistades, familiares y hasta personas que poco o nada conoces, pero que se encuentran en situaciones similares, En pocas palabras, “te convertirás en un ejemplo de valentía, fuerza y esperanza para todos los que buscan ese cambio”.

Además, esa persona que dejaste atrás (si así lo desea y acciona por ello), podrá reflexionar y evolucionar a nivel personal para comprender las implicaciones de sus acciones (esto es indispensable para disfrutar de una relación futura, saludable o sin los mismos errores de esa relación pasada).
Es cuando tu mundo se transforma “de maneras inesperadas”:
Avivando pasiones que habías dejado atrás, conexiones más profundas con sus seres queridos e incluso el inicio de nuevas aventuras (románticas o no), con una comprensión más profunda de tus deseos y necesidades.
Es una época de introspección, aprendizaje y reconstrucción (comprendiendo que siempre habrá un mañana y que con cada día que pase, el dolor se disminuirá para ser reemplazado por nuevas experiencias, lecciones y un sentido fortalecido de tu identidad).
Y aunque asegurar ese viaje con destino incierto, pero “seguro y saludable”, no siempre sea tarea sencilla (sobre todo si se viene de una relación con tendencias narcisistas), estos pueden ser algunos pasos a considerar (reconociendo también que cada persona es un mundo):
Contar con un espacio seguro (ya sea a través de la terapia profesional, tener un sistema de apoyo con familiares o amigos es vital).
Aprender a establecer límites (si la comunicación es inevitable, esto te permitirá evitar recaídas o conflictos que puedan escalar y afectarte aún más).
Participar en actividades que nutran tu alma (ya sea leer, viajar, hacer ejercicio o dedicarte a un pasatiempo).
Y aunque este viaje siempre esté lleno de emociones (unas más agradables que otras), vale la pena dar ese paso de fe por ti y por una vida más rica y plena.
