Today's proverb from the Japanese Iroha Karuta collection is all about busting your gut for nothing but exhaustion.
If you've been in the "make money online" niche for any length of time you are probably know what I'm talking about.
The Japanese proverb is quite difficult to translate into natural-sounding English. It goes like this:
"Hone-ori zon no kutabire mouke"
A word for word translation sounds really weird: Bone-folding (i.e. breaking) loss's exhaustion gain/profit.
What it means is something like this: A bone-breaking (effort) is expended (lost) and the only "gain" is exhaustion.
One way to translate it would be to find a "dynamic equivalent" for "bone-breaking loss" in English and I think this is quite good:
"A busted gut for nothing but exhaustion."
However, I decided to turn it into a full sentence like this:
"Wasted effort brings nothing but exhaustion."
Happily for us Hive-based content creators, we can always get some value out of our bone-breaking losses by turning them into topics for content creation on the blockchain.
Cheers!
