There is no life without innovation and no innovation without life, which I believe is true. Human beings' evolution from 200 years alone clearly shows how innovation has been a constant friend of ours as we move forward to the future. In the late 1400s and 1500s transportation was nothing like it is in this current year, there were no cars or aeroplanes and in fact, the first car was made on January 29, 1886, by Carl Benz, which means during the 1400s and 1500s human beings means of transportation was through animals on land and at that time boat and ships was already made it wasn't that hard during that period for shipmasters to navigate the oceans.
It's no surprise or news that from the first invention of cars from 1886 to 2024, there has been a huge difference in the production of cars. Innovation has gone so far that we have electric cars which don't run on gas anymore and I am almost sure the people who lived in the 1500s will be amazed by what the means of transportation have involved over the years. They will also be amazed about how we have taken transportation to the sky which has made long-distance journeys short.
Even with all these incredible feats the human race has accomplished, it's still not close to where we are heading in 100 years to come. Some would say human beings will evolve into robots soon. This just reminded me of a short documentary I watched on TikTok about cryosleep. The head doctor handling the project gave a brief tour around the facilities and explained that this type of cryosleep is to keep the dead bodies at a minus 0 temperature to preserve the tissues in the body in the hope someday that there will be a death cure. The doctor believed that in probably 50 to 100 years it would be possible to revive the dead bodies, which is why they are preserving them for that time to come.
It was shocking for me when I watched the documentary and still could not believe what I was seeing and hearing at the same time. It was like innovation has gotten to the extent that we now want to venture into death and the possibility of curing death as scientists will say it's a sickness. In my opinion, this project has gone too far and although I get what they are trying to achieve will be a huge breakthrough in science and humanity I think this is way past our hands because how can they guarantee that someday in the future it will be possible to bring people back from the dead.
This project is being funded with millions of dollars which will be useful elsewhere and could make a significant impact than waiting on something that could never happen in 50-100 years to come, but again scientists have decided to take the high road. This is why ethics needs to be incorporated fully with innovation, so wild projects like this should not be given enough time and resources to continue crazy projects.
AI has made its mark on the world, and it is just the beginning because there is still more to come in the long run. This year alone we saw writers in the US go on strike because of AI as they fear it will take their jobs in the future I understand from their point of view because I am also a writer and I will feel bad if someday Hive decides to let AI drop content here on the blockchain( which is not happening anytime soon) and take away a source of livelihood for many people around the world.
AI is already feared as a tool that will take humanity's jobs soon, just like the writers' strike I mentioned above earlier. Software developers can be replaced easily now because AI can run codes in a matter of seconds, which is what a regular individual can do for days or weeks. These tools have proven to be useful, but they have also proven to be dangerous, and we have to be cautious about how they are going to be used for the safety of everyone in the future.
