More sliders in the UI would create more demand for STEEM Power and help curation. Here's how.
I would like more sliders on steemit.com. Some of us have the voting power slider when we cast votes, and this is great. But I would like more sliders.
When a user on steemit.com starts out, they have no voting power option. It's all or nothing. Often, when a user first encounters their voting power slider, it's like a whole new world has opened up, even though very little has actually changed on the site. Although it's just one UI component, it has an amazing psychological effect. We need more of this.
Specifically, I would like to see more of these options in the settings. For example, it would be great if voting power could be set and forgotten.
Some people dislike the voting power slider when casting votes, but they would still like to have this flexibility. They might like to set their voting power to 25% for the day, then 33% the next day, and so on.
In addition to a preset voting power option, I would like to see other settings to set a threshold for finding posts. Perhaps, I would like to see authors based on a certain amount of STEEM Power.
For instance, say I'm looking at my feed, and I'd like to narrow down the number of posts to authors with 500 STEEM Power and less.
- Root Post Authors with
n
max STEEM Power. - Root Post Authors with
n
min STEEM Power. - Comment Authors with
n
max STEEM Power. - Comment Authors with
n
min STEEM Power.
For this to work efficiently, the RPC should probably accept parameters like:
{
"root_post_author_max": "500 STEEM"
}
Uses for holding STEEM Power
If enough people start setting a minimum to read articles, this would put pressure on the market to buy and hold STEEM Power. Otherwise, their blog might get overlooked.
Of course, some people would get frustrated by this because they just cannot justify buying more, and as result, their blog would get overlooked. I understand that objection.
But I see this as an additional use for STEEM Power. If you want attention, buy STEEM Power.
Finding Overlooked Blogs
Since these settings can also be used to set a maximum, this will enable the ability to find blogs that have been overlooked. The idea here is that bloggers who have "too much" STEEM Power will be omitted from these results.
There's an opportunity for better curation rewards when you can use filters like this. So it's win-win.
