“El hormiguero” is a cafe/bar located in an institution that brings together young Cuban artists.
They have named it The Ant Nest because of the permanent hustle and bustle that is always there. Young artists and amateur audiences constantly move in the patio of the provincial headquarters of the Hermanos Saiz Association in Pinar del Río.
The energy of emerging art, the vitality of the creators and also of their audiences in each of the activities that take place in this very sonorous and colorful patio: Literature spaces, visual arts exhibitions, theater and performance interventions, the most underground of popular and street music, graffiti and rebellion.
It can be said that El hormiguero is the most economical gastronomic offer of the bars and cafes in the city. And this also makes it possible for many young university students to access it.
The creators of El Hormiguero are two well-known artists, who also share their daily lives. Michel GMG (visual artist) and Li Carvajal (director of La Gaveta Art and Literature Magazine) have known how to blend with quality and coherence a space that resembles its consumers.

“El hormiguero” es un café/bar ubicado en una institución que agrupa a jovenes artistas cubanos.
Le han nombrado El hormiguero por el ajetreo permanente que siempre hay allí. Jóvenes artistas y público aficionado se mueven constantemente en el patio de la sede provincial de la Asociación Hermanos Saiz en Pinar del Río.
La energía del arte emergente, la vitalidad de los creadores y también de sus públicos en cada uno de las actividades que se gestan en este patio tan sonoro y colorido: Espacios de literatura, exposiciones de artes visuales, intervenciones de teatro y performance, lo más underground de la música popular y callejera, el graffiti y la rebeldía.
Puede decirse que El hormiguero es la oferta gastronómica mas económica de los bares y cafés de la ciudad. Y esto también posibilita el acceso de muchos jóvenes universitarios.
Los creadores de El Hormiguero son dos conocidos artistas, quienes también comparten su vida cotidiana. Michel GMG (artista visual) y Li Carvajal (directora de Revista de Arte y Literatura La Gaveta) han sabido fundir con calidad y coherencia un espacio que se parece a sus consumidores.
