Hello everyone and all members of the Architecture+Design Community, how are you today? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I also want to wish a Merry Christmas to friends who celebrate it and soon we will enter a new year and we will make new resolutions that we will plan for the future.
One of my resolutions for next year is to be more consistent and diligent in providing interesting and inspiring content to friends in this community. This time, I would like to share my experience about the design and architecture of Hazza Coffee Shop.
Hazza Coffee
I will invite you to go to one of the coffee shops in my city, namely Hazza Coffee. This coffee shop just had a grand opening and I had the opportunity to stop by this coffee shop, two days after the grand opening of this coffee shop. This coffee shop is located at Sei Asahan Street no 51 Medan Selayang District – Medan City. The location of this coffee shop is very strategic, because it is close to various vital points in my city.
I've been watching the construction of this coffee shop, since a few months ago. Around August 2022 to mid-September 2022, I was working around Sei Asahan Street. The building that the coffee shop has prepared looks very interesting and I intend to come to this coffee shop when this coffee shop does its grand opening later. Finally, after getting the news about the grand opening of this coffee shop, I also took the time to come there.
Before we enter this coffee shop, I invite friends to pay attention to the landscape of the building and the area that is used as this coffee shop. Hazza Coffee uses a fairly large area if you look at it from the front of this building. To my knowledge, the Sei Asahan Street area is a residential area for the rich. We can find its characteristics by looking at the large house building, a very large yard from the front and back. Hazza Coffee utilizes the front and back of the coffee shop area to create proper and convenient parking for everyone.
From my observation, the coffee shop still uses the old house but modifies it to be more minimalist and modern. I can see the style of a 70's Indonesian luxury house from Hazza Coffee. One of them is the roof used for this building. If you pay attention, the roof of the Hazza Coffee building uses tiles made of clay.
I also like the way this coffee shop has installed the “Hazza Coffee” engraving on the coffee shop building. The Hazza Coffee carving was attached to the corner of the stone wall fence which fits perfectly, as if the place was created to put the name of this coffee shop.
Outdoor Space and Area Hazza Coffee
So, before entering this coffee shop building, we will explore the outdoor part first. Hazza Coffee created an outdoor space area at the front of the coffee shop building. This outdoor area has a very beautiful and neat minimalist garden concept.
The garden concept for a coffee shop is very suitable for use in the outdoor section. Green plants and grass elements can be used to beautify this room. Hazza Coffee makes use of all the plants in the area to make this outdoor area decoration greener and more natural. I really like this area, it looks natural and it's been made a long time ago. In this area, Hazza Coffee uses tables and chairs made of iron. The size of the tables and chairs are also very small and easy to move, it seems that this coffee shop uses this area for alternative seating when the inner area is full of visitors.
Hazza Coffee also has a semi-outdoor area on the right side of the building (from the initial gate). Between the outdoor space and the semi-outdoor space, there is a small field area planted with several trees. The Semi Outdoor area of Hazza Coffee is not wide, there are only about four wooden tables and chairs used in that area. I saw two big speakers near that area, it looks like this location will also be used for events or live music held at this coffee shop.
Indoor Space from Hazza Coffee
After exploring the outside of this coffee shop, I invite you to see the inside of the Hazza Coffee building. I was very impressed from my first look at the coffee shop, the inside of the building feels very spacious, clean and comfortable to me. Hazza Coffee seems to minimize the space in this building, to create an impression on visitors.
I like the way this coffee shop maximizes sunlight as a light source in this room during the day. The building of this coffee shop has many large windows. The window uses transparent glass, and the angle of the sun that illuminates this area during the day is perfect. Since ancient times, various local beliefs in Indonesia are very concerned about the direction of sunlight to buildings or houses, these beliefs are mainly about good fortune and luck.
The design and interior of Indoor Space Hazza Coffee is a blend of minimalism, modern and rustic. We can see the minimalist and modern elements of these two coffees from the selection of decorations that are kept as simple as possible but at the right angle. I also like the combination of floor tiles, furniture and walls of this building. It looks very tasteful with the concept you want to highlight. The colors of the tiles, furniture and walls seem to blend together and give a pleasant impression to behold.
We will also find various paintings that adorn the walls of this coffee shop. I don't really understand art and painting, but the existence of these canvases makes the walls look more colorful and become a beautifying decoration for this coffee shop.
One of the interesting parts is the layout of each table and chair. Hazza Coffee uses furniture with a minimalist and rustic design. We can see seats made of wood attached to the wall, then combined with wooden chairs in the style of furniture that we often see at IKEA.
Hazza Coffee seems to have designed this indoor space to be very comfortable for activities such as working or studying. The room is quite quiet, the music is also very suitable for the mood of this room. I believe, I can get a lot of inspiration for my writing when I decide to work in this coffee shop.
Smoking Room With Air Conditioner
Apart from the two main rooms, Hazza Coffee has one room with a capacity of two tables and eight chairs. This room is also designed to be soundproof, equipped with air conditioning and the coffee shop visitors who smoke can sit and relax here. Seeing the size of this special room, I think this room used to be a bedroom. Hazza Coffee also uses the same furniture as the indoor section, a large table with four chairs. The position of the chair and table is very comfortable for using a laptop.
That's all my story about my experience at Hazza Coffee and it seems, I will often come to this coffee shop.
