STEEM Power delegation to @steem-ua

Today, for the first time ever, I delegated STEEM-Power (30000 SP in total - 15000 of them with my main account @jaki01), namely to the account @steem-ua.
I have to say that in general I take a very critical view of the impact of STEEM Power delegations. Most of the time, rather than bothering to search for good content, evaluate and, if applicable, manually upvote it, the responsibility is simply passed on for a fee, and then the delegator usually no longer cares about the various kinds of abuses done with his voting power.

Furthermore, my direct voting power is now significantly weaker than before, which probably won't make the Steemians who are profiting from my upvotes cheer...

Current reputation system isn't effective!

Why did I do it nevertheless?
"Obviously, because with increasing age you are losing your mind!"
Now please at least read the whole text first, before you form your opinion! :-)

I consider the current reputation system to be absolutely misleading, especially for newcomers. That's why I never wrote articles like "Yippie, I've got a 'Rep' of 70 now!", or something like that.
In real life, a high reputation for me means something like being highly regarded, a person one can trust, and so on. The 'Rep' value on the STEEM blockchain ultimately results from nothing else than the rewards achieved through ones articles and comments (taking into account any flags, if they come from accounts with higher 'Rep' than the own one). Now one could object "Yes, but that's great, whoever writes the best articles earns the most and therefore deservedly achieves the highest reputation". Well, we all know that's just not true. Those who have enough STEEM Power can increase their rep without any effort by self-voting their articles or comments. This goal can also be achieved by using bidbots.
In plain language: reputation is buyable in the current system!

The concept of 'UserAuthority'

Nine months ago @scipio presented the idea of using the concept of 'UserAuthority' to curb the SPAM problem on the STEEM blockchain as well as to introduce a more sensible reputation system. He is currently working together with @holger80 on a STEEM-tailored implementation of his idea. The account @steem-ua is a DApp, which calculates the 'UserAutority' (UA) for each STEEM account and at the same time as an algorithmic curation system is able to upvote accounts according to their UA. However, it ISN'T a bidbot: higher upvotes cannot be bought.

Regarding the mathematical background I refer to the already mentioned and also the subsequent articles of @scipio. Ultimately, the concept of 'UserAuthority' is an advancement of the PageRank algorithm, a method of determining the popularity (reputation!) of a website by means of the number of links referring to it.
What 'PageRank' is doing with websites, UA is doing, roughly speaking, with STEEM accounts: it evaluates them by the number and quality(!) of their followers. Followers who have many followers themselves contribute to a high reputation (UA) rather than followers with few followers of their own. Due to the complexity of this reputation system, it is less easy to 'game' than the current one.
A highly commendable article, which illustrates further advantages of UA was written by @cryptoctopus.

I would highly appreciate if in future the impact of an upvote ('vote_worth') could be calculated after a formula like (for example)

vote_worth = UA(voter) / UA(average) • SP • vote_strength

Then gaining or losing important followers would have a strong impact on the value of upvotes ...

I will continue to upvote manually!

The last word now goes to my (possibly) somewhat disappointed followers:

Heute habe ich zum ersten Mal überhaupt STEEM-Power (in Höhe von insgesamt 30000 SP - davon 15000 mittels meines Hauptaccounts @jaki01) delegiert, und zwar an @steem-ua.
Dazu muss ich sagen, dass ich die Auswirkungen von STEEM-Power Delegationen durchaus kritisch sehe. Statt sich noch die Mühe zu machen, selbst nach gutem Content zu suchen, ihn zu bewerten und ggfs. manuell upzuvoten, wird die Verantwortung gegen Bezahlung einfach weitergereicht und sich ansonsten meist nicht mehr darum gekümmert, für welche Schandtaten seine Voting-Power so alles Missbraucht wird.

Außerdem ist meine direkte Vote-Kraft nun deutlich schwächer als vorher, was die von meinen Votes profitierenden Steemians vermutlich nicht gerade zum Jubeln veranlassen wird ...

Aktuelles Reputations-System nicht zielführend!

Warum habe ich's nun dennoch getan?
"Ja, weil du halt mit zunehmendem Alter anscheinend langsam den Verstand verlierst!"
Jetzt lest doch wenigstens erstmal den ganzen Text, bevor ihr euch ein Urteil bildet! :-)

Ich halte das aktuelle Reputation-System, vor allem für Neulinge, für absolut irreführend. Das ist übrigens der Grund dafür, weshalb ich niemals Artikel schrieb, wie z. B. "Yippie, ich hab' jetzt ein 'Rep' von 70!", oder so ähnlich.
Im realen Leben bedeutet eine hohe Reputation für mich so etwas wie einen guten Ruf zu haben, hoch angesehen zu sein etc. Der 'Rep-Wert' auf der STEEM-Blockchain ergibt sich letztlich aus nichts anderem als den mittels seiner Artikel und Kommentare erzielten Rewards (unter Berücksichtigung etwaiger Flags, sofern sie von Accounts mit höherer 'Rep' als der eigenen stammen). Jetzt könnte man einwenden "Ja, ist doch toll, wer die besten Artikel schreibt, verdient am meisten und erreicht folglich verdientermaßen die höchste Reputation." Nun, wir alle wissen, dass das schlicht nicht stimmt. Wer über genug STEEM-Power verfügt kann ohne jede Mühe durch Selbstvotes seiner Artikel oder Kommentare seine Rep erhöhen. Mittels der Nutzung von Bidbots lässt sich dieses Ziel gleichermaßen erreichen.
Im Klartext: Reputation ist im jetzigen System schlicht käuflich!

Das Konzept der 'UserAuthority'

Schon vor neun Monaten stellte @scipio die Idee vor, mittels des Konzepts der 'UserAuthority' sowohl das SPAM-Problem auf der der STEEM-Blockchain einzudämmen, als auch ein sinnvolleres Reputations-System einzuführen. Derzeit arbeitet er zusammen mit @holger80 an einer auf den STEEM zugeschnittenen Umsetzung seiner Idee. Der Account @steem-ua ist eine DApp, welche die 'UserAutority' (UA) für jeden einzelnen STEEM-Account berechnet und überdies als algorithmisches Curation-System Accounts entsprechend ihrer UA upzuvoten vermag. Er ist jedoch KEIN Bidbot: Höhere Upvotes lassen sich nicht erkaufen.

Bezüglich des mathematischen Hintergrunds verweise ich auf den bereits erwähnten und darauf folgende Artikel von @scipio. Letztlich handelt es sich beim Konzept der 'UserAuthority' um eine Weiterentwicklung des PageRank-Algorithmus, einem Verfahren, die Popularität (die Reputation!) einer Webseite anhand der Anzahl auf sie verweisender Links zu ermitteln.
Das, was 'PageRank' mit Webseiten macht, tut, grob gesagt, UA mit STEEM-Accounts: Es bewertet sie mittels der Anzahl und Qualität(!) ihrer Follower. Follower, die selbst viele Follower haben, tragen eher zu einer hohen Reputation (UA) bei als Follower mit wenig eigenen Followern. Aufgrund der Komplexität dieses Reputations-Systems lässt es sich weniger leicht 'gamen' als das jetzige.
Einen sehr empfehlenswerten, weitere Vorzüge veranschaulichenden Artikel schrieb @cryptoctopus.

Ich würde es sehr begrüßen, wenn zukünftig der Einfluss eines Upvotes ('vote_worth') gemäß einer Formel wie (zum Beipsiel)

vote_worth = UA(voter) / UA(average) • SP • vote_strength

berechnet würde. Wichtige Follower zu gewinnen oder verlieren hätte dann große Auswirkungen auf den Wert eines Upvotes ...

Ich werde auch weiterhin manuell upvoten!

Das letzte Wort gilt nun wieder meinen (möglicherweise) etwas enttäuschten Followern:

• Ich tue diesen Schritt für eine in meinen Augen allen ehrlichen Content-Schöpfern auf dem STEEM zugute kommende Sache.
• Ich werde mit den verbleibenden über 60000 STEEM-Power weiterhin fleißig manuell mir zusagende Artikel upvoten.
• Jeder von euch kann selbst zum Erfolg von @steem-ua und damit der UserAuthority-Bewegung auf der STEEM-Blockchain beitragen (und selbst von den damit verbundenen Vorteilen profitieren). Als erster Schritt empfiehlt sich, dem entsprechenden Discord-Channel beizutreten.
  Euren eigenen UA-Wert könnte ihr übrigens hier nachschauen. :)
