Someone can have HIV/AIDS without knowing, and the person can easily transmit it to other people living around them, especially if they come in contact with mediums through which HIV/AIDS is transmitted, such as having sexual intercourse, using a sharp object that has been contaminated, and so on. But if one is aware of such a virus in their body, they can easily control it and avoid spreading it. This is one of the advantages of regular medical checkups: it helps one to know their health status, and if there is a need to apply control measures, they can do that without putting their loved ones at risk first.

There are just so many benefits of going to the hospital on a regular basis to check the body system, and a lot of people on the planet know about this. Yet, most of them are yet to buy into the idea of medical checkups, and they have their reasons to back that up, such as being scared of being diagnosed with a strange and deadly illness, and also the high cost of such checkups in the laboratory or hospital.
Do I go for a medical checkup regularly?
The answer to this question is NO, for the "regularly" part, but YES, for going to the hospital for a medical checkup.
I go to the hospital for medical checkups, but not on a regular basis to the extent of once every month. No, I go there maybe once a year, and if it is a year that is full of activities and there are not enough funds to cater for it, I could stay for two years before going for a medical checkup.
Sometimes, the cost of medical checkups appears so high that I just decide to skip it, especially when I am not financially buoyant during that period. Apart from this, there is no other reason why I skip or do not go for it on a regular basis.
I am not among those who get scared of possibly being diagnosed with a deadly illness at the end of a checkup. Although, I do not wish to come up with such results either, because I know I would be scared.
I am also not among those who do not want to know the kind of sickness they have so they can live with a clear conscience. While this may work for many people, it is a silent way of dying without knowing.
Above all, a medical checkup is not just to detect or identify sickness; it is a good way to understand one's body and know the kind of things it needs to stay in good condition, such as a proper feeding pattern and regular exercise.
