Hello everyone!. It always makes me happy to be able to share content on Worldmappin, and that means I had a great adventure traveling to a new place for me, enjoying the scenery and learning new things along the way. My post today is a great example of what I mean, and is that I have always known that there is a great zoo in Caracas, but it is very far away, practically at the end of the city in the southwest, which is why I have never gone, and is that even traveling by subway we are talking about a very long and long journey. Today I will share my experience in the far away Caricuao Zoo.

Siempre me hace feliz poder compartir contenido en Worldmappin, y es que eso significa que tuve una gran aventura viajando a un lugar nuevo para mí, disfrutando del paisaje y aprendiendo cosas nuevas en el camino. Mi post de hoy es un gran ejemplo de lo que digo, y es que siempre he sabido que hay un gran zoológico en Caracas, pero es muy lejano, prácticamente al final de la ciudad en el suroeste, motivo por el cual nunca he ido, y es que hasta viajando en metro estamos hablando de un trayecto muy largo y duradero. Hoy compartiré mi experiencia en el lejano Parque Zoológico de Caricuao.
I made this trip with my wife and four friends from the choir who are also family. Their little daughter and I did not know this place. We went by car and it was still a long drive, but it was a much better time than going by public transportation. Upon arrival I discovered that the place is very large, both the zoo area and the parking lot. It was practically a small forest at the end of Caracas, and although the animals should be the center of attention, this place also stands out for its natural landscapes, leafy trees and variety of flowers...
Este viaje lo hice con mi esposa y cuatro amigos de la coral que a la vez son familia. La pequeña hija de ellos y yo no conocíamos este lugar. Fuimos en automóvil y aún así el trayecto fue largo, pero fue mucho mejor tiempo que ir en transporte público. Al llegar descubrí que el lugar es muy grande, tanto la zona del parque zoológico como el estacionamiento. Prácticamente era un pequeño bosque al final de Caracas, y aunque los animales deberían ser el centro de atención, este lugar también destaca por sus paisajes naturales, frondosos árboles y variedad de flores...
I confess, I find it a bit neglected, and I am referring to the cleanliness of the green areas, but at the same time I am surprised that there are functional zoos in my country. That day we did not pay entrance fee for the park, they only charged two dollars for parking. There is a very beautiful part, the reptile area, and still it is very cheap what they charge, only two dollars per adult, since children can enter for free. What you find most in the zoo are birds, but the wonderful thing is that they are loose and walk among the people, as well as the monkeys.
¡Lo confieso!, me parece que está algo descuidado, y me refiero a la limpieza de las áreas verdes, pero al mismo tiempo me sorprende que haya zoológicos funcionales en mi país. Ese día no pagamos entrada para el parque, solo cobraron dos dólares para el estacionamiento. Hay una parte muy hermosa, la zona de los reptiles, y aún así es muy barato lo que cobran, solo dos dólares por adulto, ya que los niños pueden entrar gratis. Lo que más se encuentra en el zoológico son aves, pero lo maravilloso es que están sueltas y se pasean entre las personas, al igual que los monos.
I had a particular experience with a snake 😅 and I even had to pay a dollar for it, but I will tell you about it in a next post dedicated to reptiles; also, that monkey above scared me and I scared him, we both turned at the same time without knowing the other one was there, so yes, I screamed like a soprano several times that day. There are many treeless areas where the leaves on the ground are earth-colored because of the powerful sun that burns them, but other areas with streams have beautiful green vegetation, and some ducks swim in them. There is a special area to buy food and it was very economical, I ate one of the best hamburgers of my life for only four dollars, it is really a recommended place to save money, you can visit it during this Easter vacations.
Tuve una experiencia particular con una serpiente 😅 y hasta tuve que pagar un dólar por ello, pero se las contaré en un siguiente post dedicado a los reptiles; además, ese mono de arriba me asustó y yo lo asusté a él, ambos volteamos a la vez sin saber que el otro estaba ahí, así que sí, grite como soprano varias veces ese día. Hay muchas zonas sin árboles donde las hojas en el suelo son color tierra por el potente sol que las quema, pero otras zonas con riachuelos tienen vegetación de un verde muy hermoso, y en ellas nadan algunos patos. Hay una zona especial para comprar comida y fue muy económico, me comí una de las mejores hamburguesas de mi vida por solo cuatro dólares, de verdad es un lugar recomendable para ahorrar, pueden visitarlo en estas vacaciones de Semana Santa.
Another thing I loved about this place is that there is a contact zone, where people can interact with harmless animals. Here you could pet some ponies, alpacas, donkeys, cows and goats, among others. we chose not to touch them, but we did feed them. In the same place they sold carrot sticks for two dollars to feed them. I dared with the cow, but almost screamed for the third time, as she not only opened her mouth, but sticks out her whole tongue 🤣 In general the animals are in areas suitable for them and have a lot of freedom as they are not dangerous. I was surprised that the monkeys were not rude to people like in other zoos and the only ones that are very safe besides the reptiles are the felines. They still seemed very calm interacting with each other and ignoring people.... Cat thing...
Otra cosa que amé de este lugar es que hay una zona de contacto, donde las personas pueden interactuar con animales inofensivos. Aquí podrías acariciar a algunos ponis, alpacas, burros, vacas y chivos, entre otros. nosotros elegimos no tocarlos, pero sí los alimentamos. En el mismo lugar vendían palitos de zanahorias por dos dólares para darles de comer. Yo me atreví con la vaca, pero casi grité por tercera vez, ya que no solo abrió su boca, sino que saca toda su lengua 🤣 En general los animales están en zonas adecuadas para ellos y tienen mucha libertad al no ser peligrosos. Me sorprendió que los monos no fueran groseros con la gente como en otros zoológicos y los únicos que sí están muy seguros además de los reptiles son los felinos. Igual se veían muy tranquilos interactuando entre ellos e ignorando a las personas... Cosa de gatos...
