The third time's the charm' is what one of the sayings around here says to encourage you to continue after two failed attempts and that was what worked perfectly for us when it came to know one of the glaciers of Ushuaia. At first we had dismissed the option of continuing the hike to the Vinciguerra Glacier for fear that the snow would not let us move forward, but once we were at the top of the mountain we realized that this time the route was suitable to continue. We rested a little after more than three hours of hiking, took a deep breath and decided to continue further, hoping to collect more beautiful postcards. Luckily, everything went well and on our third walk on the way to a glacier, we were finally able to observe it with our own eyes 😃.
'La tercera es la vencida' es lo que dice uno de los dichos por acá para impulsarte a continuar después de dos intentos fallidos y eso fue lo que nos funcionó a la perfección cuando se trató de conocer uno de los glaciares de Ushuaia. Al principio habíamos desestimado la opción de continuar la caminata hasta el Glaciar Vinciguerra por miedo a que la nieve no nos dejara avanzar, pero una vez que estuvimos en lo alto de la montaña nos dimos cuenta de que esta vez el recorrido estaba apto para continuarlo. Descansamos un poco después de más de tres horas de caminata, respiramos profundo y nos decidimos a continuar hacia más allá, esperando recolectar más postales hermosas. Por suerte, todo salió bien y en nuestro tercer paseo camino a un glaciar, finalmente pudimos observarlo con nuestros propios ojos 😃.
When we arrived at the Laguna de los Témpanos we spent a long time contemplating the scenery and having our well-deserved snack on the mountain. This landscape was so imposing that we could not believe it was right in front of our eyes. Despite being very close to summer, the lagoon was still frozen, with only a few traces of the beginning of the thaw. The first sight we had of it was that it was white, almost getting lost with the snow in the background and passing a little unnoticed in the distance. But after seeing other hikers taking a course to go around the lagoon, we decided to follow them and having other points of view, we found the surprise of beautiful colors formed by water, ice and sunlight. This postcard seemed surreal 💖.
Cuando llegamos a la Laguna de los Témpanos nos quedamos un buen rato contemplando el paisaje y teniendo nuestra merecida merienda en la montaña. Este paisaje era tan imponente que no podíamos creer que estuviera enfrente de nuestros ojos. A pesar de estar muy cerca del verano, la laguna seguía congelada, con apenas unos rastros del inicio del deshielo. La primera vista que tuvimos de ella fue que era blanca, casi perdiéndose con la nieve del fondo y pasando un poco desapercibida a lo lejos. Pero después de ver que otros caminantes tomaban rumbo para rodear la laguna, nosotros decidimos seguirlos y al tener otros puntos de vista, nos encontramos con la sorpresa de unos colores hermosos formados por el agua, el hielo y la luz del sol. Esta postal parecía surreal 💖.
Once in the high mountain, we found a road completely covered with snow. It had been a long time since I had seen such a landscape, so I was quite excited. The trail was completely marked with footprints of other travelers, so it was very easy to follow the trail. We were very hopeful to see the glacier, because unlike the previous two times, this trail was neither steep nor was it snowing at that precise moment 😅.
Una vez en la alta montaña, nos encontramos con un camino completamente cubierto de nieve. Yo hace mucho que no veía un paisaje así, por lo que la emoción era bastante. El sendero estaba completamente marcado con pisadas de otros viajeros, así que era muy fácil seguir el rastro. Teníamos mucha esperanza de ver el glaciar, porque a diferencia de las dos veces anteriores, este recorrido no era empinado ni estaba nevando en ese preciso momento 😅.
Almost by surprise, it took us less than half an hour to reach the point where the glacier was located. Although it was quite covered with snow, there were small sectors where we could make out its characteristic blue ice. Although summer was very close in this part of the world, the snow on it was still abundant, but we were glad that at least part of it was uncovered to magnify its immensity ❤️.
Casi por sorpresa, nos tomó menos de media hora llegar hasta el punto en donde se encontraba el glaciar. A pesar de que estaba bastante cubierto de nieve, habían pequeños sectores en dónde se podía distinguir su característico hielo azul. A pesar de que el verano estaba muy cerca en esta parte del mundo, la nieve en él todavía era abundante, pero nos alegramos de que al menos una parte estuviera descubierta para magnificar su inmensidad ❤️.
A year ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in the province of Santa Cruz. That had been the only glacier I had been able to see, and now this was the second one. The Perito Moreno Glacier is beautiful and imposing, but visitors can only see it from afar. This Vinciguerra Glacier is there, right in front of you, at your fingertips. They say that in warmer seasons, when the glacier is already a bit more exposed, ice caves are formed and some brave people like to enter them. For my part, I prefer to see them from the outside for safety and respect 😅.
Hace un año atrás, tuve la oportunidad de visitar en Glaciar Perito Moreno en la provincia de Santa Cruz. Ese había sido el único glaciar que había podido ver, y ahora este era el segundo. El glaciar Perito Moreno es hermoso e imponente, pero los visitantes solo pueden verlo desde lejos. Este Glaciar Vinciguerra está ahí, justo enfrente tuyo, al alcance de la mano. Dicen que en épocas más calurosas, cuando el glaciar ya está un poco más descubierto, se forman cuevas de hielo a las que algunos valientes les gusta entrar. Por mi parte, prefiero verlas desde afuera por seguridad y respeto 😅.
We can't complain about the beautiful day we had for this hike, and we were more than grateful for the scenery we saw. My hiking companions and I spent some time playing in the snow and sliding like a toboggan in it. We also saw other brave people walking on the glacier, which I thought was crazy because you never know for sure what is under the snow. For us, having the glacier so close had already been the best reward ❣️.
No podemos quejarnos del día hermoso que nos tocó para hacer esta caminata, y estuvimos más que agradecidos por los paisajes que vimos. Mis compañeros de paseo y yo nos quedamos un buen rato jugando en la nieve y deslizándonos como tobogán en ella. También vimos a otros valientes que caminaban sobre el glaciar, lo cual me pareció una locura porque nunca se sabe a ciencia cierta qué hay debajo de la nieve. Para nosotros, tener el glaciar tan cerca ya había sido la mejor recompensa ❣️.
I was overjoyed to have had a successful third attempt when it came to seeing one of Ushuaia's glaciers. My time in Tierra del Fuego province, number 18 of 23 on my #travelgoal list was beyond beautiful. I take away a lot of great adventures through these frozen mountains that couldn't have been more beautiful. And to the Vinciguerra Glacier I thank it for letting me see it, let me touch it and of course, let me enjoy it ❣️.
Me alegré demasiado por haber tenido un tercer intento satisfactorio cuando se trató de ver uno de los glaciares de Ushuaia. Mi paso por la provincia de Tierra del Fuego, la número 18 de 23 en mi lista de #travelgoal fue más que hermoso. Me llevo un montón de grandes aventuras por estas montañas congeladas que no podrían haber sido más hermosas. Y al Glaciar Vinciguerra le doy las gracias por dejarse ver, dejarse tocar y por supuesto, dejarse disfrutar ❣️.
