With the bear market now in full swing, crypto, stonks and just about every asset class is taking a beating. This has left many wondering about the future and worried about their portfolio values.
With most people emphasizing price action and looking simply at the market value of assets, we'd like to bring the focus back to fundamental growth. LeoFinance is and has always been committed to growing our fundamental metrics.
When you're trying to value a project like LeoFinance, there are a lot of different metrics to look at. Most people are focused on the surface-level - the actual token price itself. If you look at that as your core metric, LeoFinance is currently valued at $600k (speaking just on LEO itself, not our DeFi branches).
This is a radically cheap valuation. The cheapest valuation we've seen in over a year (since the last bull cycle began). It's clear that we frontran the bear market and saw our valuation drop from about $10M to $600k over the last year.
The bull is where we all laugh and see our portfolios reach incredible $ valuations. The bear is where we get back to building and focus on accumulating shares in assets that have fundamentally sound value and a mission worth investing in.
LeoFinance Technology
Our technology has always been at the core of what we focus on day-to-day. We're always pushing the bounds of what our Dev team can accomplish.
ICYMI: we recently launched Community Pages and LeoMobile V1. These two developments took several months (in LeoMobile's case, about 1 year on the dot).
We've been working so hard behind the scenes. The bull market had everyone focused on prices and not technology. I believe LeoFinance shines brighter when the focus comes back to technology and fundamental growth in the bear market.
LeoFinance Growth
The focus of this post is on tracking some of our KPIs and growth metrics. Our goal by the end of the year is to ~5x our Monthly Active Users.
MAUs can be counted as anyone who makes a post or comment (or both) from either leofinance.io or LeoMobile throughout the month.

Last month, we had 622 MAUs. As you can see, we peaked over 1000 MAAUs back in January 2021. Unsurprisingly, the LEO price was also peaking at about $1 at the time.
Growing our MAUs is the lifeblood of LeoFinance.
@whatsup has been talking lately about how we - as a community - need to get back to focusing on our funnel.
We need to focus on onboarding new users and bringing them into the LeoFinance Web3 Ecosystem through our community.
There are a few key steps to this:
- Get traffic
- Have easy account creation
- Give people a reason to stay
LeoInfra enables the easiest account creation process across the entire Hive blockchain - maybe even across the entire Web3 universe that is out there right now.
Anyone can create a Hive account and use LeoFinance in less than 30 seconds by using LeoInfra to sign in via Facebook or Twitter.
On LeoMobile, this process is even easier. Users can download the app and be using LeoFinance to read and comment in less than 30 seconds.
Right now, our focus has turned heavily toward creating a better User Experience on the LeoFinance frontend. We're focused on segmenting and organizing content better - as @nealmcspadden was talking about in General chat on Discord yesterday as well.
The new Community Pages release takes content feeds to the next level. We integrated it with Lightning to make the best sorting algorithm for content on the entire Hive blockchain.
With Community Pages, we can now segment different "Subcommunities" - much like Subreddits on Reddit - and give a personalized, tailored experience to people within those communities.
There are now 3 community pages live - Thorchain, Splinterlands and Comdex - each of these pages can now target the respective community members on twitter, etc. and start trying to onboard them to create content about the token and platform that they are interested in and spread awareness about why it's a good project.
Community pages have the potential to onboard entire communities at once. A good Community Page that gains traction could literally onboard 100-1000 users in one shot. It's incredible to sit back and day dream about the potential. If we can convince 1 good community to utilize the pages feature to spread awareness and UGC - user-generated content - about their project, then 5x'ing the current MAUs on LeoFinance becomes readily in-focus.
General Site Traffic
General site traffic is doing incredibly well. We're seeing a lot of our top content ranking on Google and over the past year, Google has become far and away the #1 source of traffic for LeoFinance.
This shows that Search Engines are now looking at LeoFinance as an authority for content in the crypto space. We've seen this authority rank continue to grow over time and it is completely independent of the LEO token price.
Site authority comes with high quality content that is targeted at specific topics. A focus on this by @hitmeasap, @finguru, @forexbrokr and others has really been vital to this growth.
If we get more community members involved in these types of initiatives, Google traffic will continue to grow exponentially over time.
More site traffic = more lurkers = more potential sign ups = more potential MAUs.
A Renewed Focus on Growth
Now that the bear market is officially in, the time to focus on fundamental growth has never been more important. We'll be reviewing our core growth metrics every single week and looking for all of the ways that we can leverage more growth and get more MAUs.
