It's the 15th of June and you know what that means!? Happy LPUD everyone! Today is actually the 1 year anniversary of LPUD. It's crazy that it's already been a year since LPUD began.
Since the start of LPUD one year ago, we've tripled our userbase and have powered up millions of LEO Tokens. There are now only about 3 Million LEO that isn't powered up and the majority of that is in liquidity pools or burned on old addresses that no longer have their keys.
The float of LEO is so tight now. The daily @leo.bounties buys of the LEO token have been struggling to soak up liquid LEOs to pay delegators the current 5k LEO per day that gets sent to HIVE POWER delegators to @leo.voter.
Thus, the price of LEO has been increasing dramatically. Up over 100% since the flip from inflationary rewards to buyback-based rewards.
The LEO price staying low for an extended time is a great thing for the LeoBounties and (soon) LeoAds protocol to step in and soak up any of the supply that it can. So let's not get too ahead of ourselves with this long-awaited rally in the LEO Market Cap.
LeoAds and the Future of the LEO Token
LeoAds has long been talked about as one of the saving graces of our platform. We've spent a lot of time lately - as I'm sure you can tell - making our final preparations before pushing the LeoAds smart contract live.
The latest development was adding the View Counter which is connected to the LeoAds API as well as adding Adsense support.
We've been working on getting multiple Ad partners including Adsense, Coinzilla, Bitmedia and others. This is really important for the decentralization of the program as well as adding robust and reliable revenue. If one company starts paying us less, then we start serving more ads from the next company and so on and so forth.
Later down the line, we'll also deploy the LeoAds Portal on the LeoFinance UI. This will allow anyone to come to LeoFinance and deploy their own ad.
The ad process will look like this:
- Company (or individual) X goes to LeoAds portal on leofinance.io
- Submit an ad based on our guidelines for formatting, ad type, etc.
- Set a budget (in LEO, HIVE, HBD, BTC or USDT)
- Budget goes into a smart contract escrow with LeoAds
- Ad gets submitted for approval
- Approval process - Ad is deployed into a Poll on Threads
- Ad has 24 hours to get approved by at least 51% of voters in a yes or no Poll that is stake-weighted based on LEO POWER held in users' Hive accounts
- If not approved, budget goes back to advertiser along with feedback on why it didn't
- If approved, budget starts to get spent on a daily basis as ads are served to users on LeoFinance.io
- Budget autonomously buys LEO (or sends LEO, if paid in LEO) and deploys to the LeoAds LEO POWER APY contract which deploys APY to anyone actively curating/holding LEO POWER
The Future of LEO
The future of LEO is in this ads program. We've made some huge progress lately in terms of ad optimizations and we've got a lot more progress yet to come.
The integration of the view counter, which shows you an approximation of how much ad revenue was generated by the views on any thread on the UI is a breakthrough innovation for us.
This view counter is also about to be deployed to long-form posts.
Content on LeoFinance Has Value... Forever
One of the major issues on Hive since the beginning of time has always been that content only really has a 7 day value window.
After 7 days, nobody really cares about it.
In the LeoVerse, we've always talked about changing this model. Evergreen content that generates views in perpetuity is hugely valuable to a UGC ad revenue business like ours.
This means that we need to start placing a value on content that is aimed at driving in readers for the long-term.
Threads are fantastic for short-term bursts of views. Engagement creates a lot of revenue and @taskmaster4450le not only talks the talk about how engagement is driving value to LEO, he walks the walk by making hundreds of threads on a daily basis.
Not bullshit threads, but actual replies and threadstorms that have real content and value to people who engage with him.
This is the way. 100 Taskmasters could generate tens of thousands of dollars in monthly ad revenue... where does that all go? The LEO token.
One of our next major iterations is going to be releasing the view counter on long-form content and then also finding ways to send rewards to authors who generate views over long-time frames.
This means that if you create content that can bring in outside readership, search engine optimized, shared on social media, etc. and your view counts are high and continue to rise over time, you'll get even more LEO rewards than before.
