Have you ever experienced harvesting rice? Did you know what good things you might get after the rice gets harvested? Join me as I visit some parts of my place to catch the freshest air that nature could offer, the relaxing view that gives you peace of mind for a while and also to gather a sustainable soil amendment for my garden plants.
It's December already and time flies so fast, a new year is welcoming us too soon. I'm worried about it because December is the rainy season here so we are expecting too many rainy days and some rice paddies are still waiting for the right time to harvest hopefully, the weather will get better and everything goes well so it would be easier for them to do the job. But before this December end, a lot of rice harvesting will happen here even some are already done their harvesting period and if we say rice harvests it may sound tiring but most of the farmers are their happiest time where they can save money in buying rice from the markets.
this greener part would take 2-3 weeks to harvest
this golden brown would only take 1-2 weeks to harvest
Anyway, a few days ago a random hiver commented about my gardens plant that they seemed unhealthy and so I told her about the condition of the land where I live so she advises putting mulch on my plants for better growth and I think it would be a better idea if I could use some rice hulls for them and fortunately I heard that some part of the rice paddies are starting their rice harvest so I headed there to see if I can get some rice hulls for my garden.
As I arrived at the place I saw this woman named Belen together with her son Justyn and their dog. They live far from the farm so they stay here to secure the rice grains from the possible birds that might eat them. They would stay here early in the morning until dawn until the rice are harvested.
I feel so relaxed from the air that gently touches me so I decided to stay for a while to feel the moment and took these flowers photos that amazed me.
Some areas also here turn into greener pastures for animals. They are not cultivated by the owners maybe for some reason.
Later that moment I went to the side where the rice hulls were available.
Fresh rice hulls are just beside the tiny hut (where the sticks stand) that serves as a shelter when they are about to harvest, you can see above also some sacks of rice grains from their harvests.
I also took some decomposed ones from the old harvest season.
I went home after and this is what I've got from my nature adventure.
I'm sweaty from the sack I carry but it's satisfying spending time with nature plus the bonus take home it offers for me.
Thank you for visiting I hope you'll stay with me as I turn the rice hulls into sustainable soil amendments for my plants soon.
