What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

| For the first time in years, Lindsay felt happy just being able to enjoy a simple game. It could have been her fascination with numbers. It could also have been an attraction she was feeling to Sanjay. Portland was a world away. |

| 🏍️ Lindsay Etxeberria was so focused on the task at hand-- whatever it was-- that she had forgotten about simple pleasures such as reading a book for fun or painting or just plain conversation with a fellow human being. For many years it had been an "us versus them" existence for Lindsay, and it took its toll on her. Although Our Heroes (which only began to include her recently) knew more or less who she was and what she had done, they were more interested in her as a human being who also deserved attention and love. 🏍️ While Sanjay Rampersad was about to start his Senior year at UNC Chapel Hill, Lindsay was perhaps 10 years older. I'll need to figure out timelines and ages for all characters, but it's safe to say that she is younger than Rhonda Bella and closer in age to the Brothers Marchenko. |

| 🏍️ This is when Lindsay Etxeberria begins to realize that not all of what she had been taught to believe-- what she had been indoctrinated to believe-- was true. After all, if "White Christians" were so racist (or "racist"), why would a South Asian Indian and an African Nigerian want to associate themselves with such people? If Christianty consisted of "hate speech," why would a Hindu want to be around someone who practiced such a faith? Yet Sanjay Rampersad was just speaking matter-of-factly of how he sees David Guardia and Our Heroes. |

| 🏍️ David Guardia and Lionel Odunsi are as different as any 2 people can be from each other. Yet they share the same faith. Lionel himself was always meant to be a Christian character. Christianity has a strong presence in Africa; so much so that many African clergy are sent to North American parishes as missionaries. That may sound crazy, but the North American Christians had been losing their way for decades while the African Christians are closer to where they should be. With the Roman Catholic Church in flux these days, it is only a matter of time before it has a pope who was born and raised in Africa. |

| 🏍️ Although David Guardia and Harry Hoqualogue spent more time with their respective groups than around each other, this is meant to be just one of a number of times these "elder statesmen" spend time with each other. If David was old enough to be living out a mid-life crisis when he left Bayonne, new Jersey, US, then Harry had been a wild child for longer than Rhonda Bella has been alive. With the ride about to transform once Harry and The Mongols reach their home in San Diego, California, US, it was good for these two men to spend time together in genuine concern for each other. |

| 🏍️ Harry Hoqualogue would have dismissed such a suggestion as recently as 1 month before their meeting at STURGIS, but he seemed to be receptive to David Guardia's suggestion for a change. At Harry's age, his options are more limited than for The Kids or even The Twins. David's no spring chicken, either, so he feels the years as much as Harry. Despite nearly getting killed by Harry when they met at STURGIS, David truly cares for his kindred spirit. |

| 🏍️ For decades, Harry Hoqualogue had his life set. As a member of The Mongols, he did whatever it was that Mongols did, and he was 100% into it. On the other hand, David Guardia had a few life-changing moments prior to the start of #GHAWG where he needed to put his own dreams aside for a while. Regarding his own future, David had been taking it a day at a time during his Epic Ride. With help from The Lord, David will figure out the next path he needs to take in his life; while he's concerned as anyone else would be in his situation, he knows that things will fall into place for him. |

| 🏍️ "Once a Marine, always a Marine" is something David Guardia had learned long ago from his father, a Marine in the 1960s who served in the 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force for FMFLANT (Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic). It wasn't a surprise to him that he would hear something similar only for The Mongols. Both men, as different as they could be, had similar concerns for their respective futures. |

Story Arc So Far
Lindsay Etxeberria is spending more time with The Kids, enough that she gets to be classed with them. She also learns a few things about faith which she would not have picked up from David Guardia. During her time with The Kids, she begins to feel an attratction (or at least an attachment) toward Sanjay Rampersad.
David Guardia and Harry Hoqualogue have a moment to themselves. Both discuss future plans after they reach San Diego. The future is in flux for David, but Harry had been reconsidering his own path for a while.
Next Week
Zapfic Entries 252-258
Lindsay Etxeberria and Rhonda Bella learn more about each other. The Twins help The Kids get their bikes outfitted with nitrous oxide cannisters. David Guardia displays a very-short-term prophetic ability to the rest of Our Heroes. Rhonda and David discuss parenthood and children.
