What's happening behind the scenes to bring new GHAWG content? The GHAWG Diaries is my recap of what I've been doing.
Cover image designed by @magnacarta using emojis and Excel 2007 for text. Minor edits made using MS Paint.
Introduction
There's more to #GHAWG than just daily zapfic entries and the spreadsheet I use to track them. There's research. There's review. There's also thought and inspiration. Then there are the tools involved in doing any of those tasks.
Just to keep things from getting scrambled in my head, and also to document for myself what I've been considering, I began keeping a diary of my activities as they concern #GHAWG. For that reason, I decided to share these diary entries with everyone on Hive blockchain (including the LeoFinance community at InLeo).
On Mondays which don't feature a GHAWG, Uninterrupted
post (GHAWG-U)-- eventually replaced by GHAWG, Remastered
(GHAWG-R)-- I'll post diary entries from the previous 7 days or between GHAWG-U/R posts if the time between them is short. TGD64 will have enough entries for 3 weeks. The first entry starts on 2025-March-03.
Before anyone scratches their heads at a few terms, here are 3 I began using many posts ago:
Term | Meaning |
---|---|
►Rat Bike ◄[1] | Code name for #GHAWG (the first and current zapfic serial) |
►Blue Lion ◄[2] | Code name for the middle zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |
►The Bronze ◄[3] | Code name for the final zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |

📓 Of the 7 members of ►Felix Legion◄[4], ►Rhonda Bella◄[5] was the first person to join ►David Guardia◄[6] on his ►Epic Ride◄[7] when they formally met ►at a bar◄[8] in her hometown of ►Davenport, Iowa◄[9], US after he picked up his ►Harley-Davidson tri-cycle◄[10] paid for by ►Jacob Angel◄[11]. The next 2 people to join David were the ►two brawlers◄[12] from ►Cedar Rapids, Iowa◄[13], US; these were the ►Brothers Marchenko◄[14], Hank & Frank. Somewhere between ►Midway, Iowa◄[15], US and ►STURGIS◄[16] two ►foreign exchange students◄[17] from the ►University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill◄[18] join David and the others; these are ►The Kids◄[19], ►Sanjay Rampersad◄[20] from India and ►Lionel Odunsi◄[21] from Nigeria. ►Lindsay Etxeberria◄[22] doesn't enter the picture until ►Our Heroes◄[23] encounter her and her fellow far-left activists in ►Portland, Oregon◄[24], US-- unless you count the time David and Rhonda find a badly injured person on the side of the road near Midway, and at that time she was unrecognizable.
I mention these first meetings between David and the people who would join to later form Felix Legion because I was debating whether to rewrite the origin of Felix Legion, and how to do so if I proceed.
It makes sense to form Felix Legion after The Kids join David on his Epic Ride. At that point, only Lindsay is missing. Felix Legion could already exist when she meets everyone else, and she could be integrated into the group.
This rewrite would take place as I port Rat Bike
from zapfic format to long form, as I transform Rat Bike
into a novel. At the moment David is in Davenport picking up his Harley trike, so his formal meeting with Rhonda will take place soon.
In doing this rewrite of the origins of Felix Legion-- which won't become canon until the novelization is finished-- I can consolidate a number of events so that they take place as they ride to STURGIS. This way, I can refer to the characters by their Felix Legion names immediately.
As for Lindsay, when she becomes part of Felix Legion, she won't acquire the moniker "Fonzie" initially. Instead, David will give her another name. Just now I was thinking that she would be called "Lefty" because she was a ►far-left activist◄[25] when they met, but that seems lazy and cheap. Instead, I will have David assign her a different name based on a few zapfic entries featuring them during some down time at a rest stop for an overnight layover. This will also allow me to make use of both Felix Legion names for her during the 6th and final segment of David's Epic Ride in Rat Bike
as well as in the sequel zapfic serials Blue Lion
and The Bronze
.
So Lindsay becomes part of Felix Legion earlier; picks up a different Felix Legion name initially; initiates the ►daring display of theatricality◄[26] in ►Santa Fe, New Mexico◄[27], US as they ride east to ►Chicago, Illinois◄[28], US on what should be ►Route 66◄[29]; and then becomes known as Fonzie.
In rewriting the origins of Felix Legion, I'll also be rewriting a number of other scenes. Other scenes will be shifted around to accommodate the revised origins of Felix Legion. For the novelization of Rat Bike
, that's the plan.

📓 Using footnotes to handle backlinking for SEO purposes makes the posts longer than necessary, but they also keep the content portion of the post clean. This is necessary since not all Hive front-end dApps handle links to Hive ecosystem content the same. Once that is no longer the case and all the front-ends work as they should, I can return to using hyperlinks as before.
However, when I reviewed the footnotes section of the post, I noticed something I hadn't considered ahead of time. The footnote number is followed by a note which may not always be clear. So I need to redo the footnotes so that the footnote number is followed by the term being noted. I'll take care of the footnotes being used for each subsequent post as soon as I use them, but I'll also update the data file so that footnotes follow the revised format I am about to use.

📓 I began porting ►Aníbal Rivera◄[30]'s interview with David Guardia when he woke up from his ►10-day-coma◄[31] at the hospital in ►Le Claire, Iowa◄[32], US. Anibal Rivera learned of David's near-fatal accident courtesy of a video which had gone viral. Since viewing that viral video, the independent journalist had been waiting for David to wake up so that he could interview him.
Thursday, 2025-March-06
📓 Today I finished porting Anibal Rivera's interview with patient David Guardia at the hospital in Le Claire, Iowa, US. This interview is brief in zapfic format, but it blew up in the port to novel format. It includes a few points I wanted to publish in GHAWG originally, but I decided not to do so then.
Friday, 2025-March-07
📓 Today I ported more of the zapfic serial to novel format. This time I covered David Guardia's emergence from a ►full body cast◄[33] and the moment ►a wheelchair-bound elderly patient◄[34] in the same wing of the Le Claire, Iowa, US hospital touched him.
Saturday, 2025-March-08
📓 It's been a while, but I added 2 entries to the zapfic queue. At this moment, the zapfic queue goes to 2025-May-01 (E01). These entries look like filler entries to prolong Rat Bike
, and they could have been written at any point since Our Heroes picked up Lindsay Etxeberria in Portland, Oregon, US. Regardless of where these entries find themselves-- at this point in the zapfic serial, or earlier when the zapfic serial gets ported to long form novel format-- the reason for their inclusion will become apparent after the Iowans (plus David Guardia) reach Iowa to wind down the 6th and final segment of what had become David's Epic Ride.
Sunday, 2025-March-09
📓 We know that Lionel Odunsi is a foreign exchange student at UNC from Nigeria. We know that he is friends with fellow foreign exchange student at UNC Sanjay Rampersad from India. We know that he has an aptitude for business and finances. Not including David Guardia (because his is a special case), Lionel is the most Christian of the members of Felix Legion.
That's about all we know about Lionel. I hope to add more depth to his character when I port Rat Bike
to novel format. I also expect to give him a larger role in the sequel zapfic serial Blue Lion
. I can say that in Blue Lion
we will see him married to a character who will debut in Blue Lion
.

📓 We know that Lindsay Etxeberria was a far-left activist when we meet her formally in Portland, Oregon, US. What we don't know is her life before she became a far-left activist. The final segment of David Guardia's Epic Ride, between Chapel Hill, North Carolina, US and Davenport, Iowa, US, will be when we learn more about Lindsay's Etxeberria's past. A big factor in this transformation is due to the influence of her parents-- or their lack of influence; I haven't decided yet. One of the set piece sequences will feature the reunion she will have with her family back in her hometown of Atalissa, Iowa, US. After all, there's a reason David and the former Rhonda Bella find her as a bloody heap of flesh on the side of the road a short distance from Atalissa after they leave Davenport.
Tuesday, 2025-March-11
📓 The spreadsheet is getting out of control again. I've been so focused on adding zapfic entries that I've forgotten to do other tasks such as updating the GHAWG timeline of events.
The last date for Rat Bike
is 2028-October-12. That was the day Felix Legion rolled into Chicago, ended the ride along Route 66, and encountered Chicago residents ►Terry Leo◄[35], ►Emilio Ibáñez◄[36], ►Luther Jackson◄[37], and ►Mrs. Hernandez◄[38]. Without analyzing subsequent zapfic entries, it looks as if The Kids arrive at UNC between the 17th and the 19th of October. The Interlude taking place after The Kids are on campus lasts a few days, so I'm estimating that David Guardia's Epic Ride comes to a close on or before Halloween 2028. I didn't plan that date, but it's looking as if that's what it will be.
Wednesday, 2025-March-12
📓 It's been a while since I looked at digital maps. At the moment the end of the ride to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill fast approaches, followed by an Interlude. Before I pick up Rat Bike
after this Interlude, I need to define the route The Iowans will take back to various points in Iowa.
Who are The Iowans? They are Felix Legion minus The Kids after they arrived at ►UNC◄[39]. All the Iowans are in Felix Legion. Not everyone in Felix Legion is part of the subgroup known as The Iowans.
New Jersey native David Guardia became an Iowan when he married Rhonda Bella, so ►The Newlyweds◄[40] will live in Davenport. ►Hank◄[41] and ►Frank◄[42], the Brothers Marchenko, hail from Cedar Rapids. However, the first stop in Iowa for The Iowans (which now include David) will be Atalissa. This is where the family of Lindsay Etxeberria lives.
As much as I can, I will have The Iowans ride along new roads in new areas. There may be territory they had previously covered (especially in Illinois), but I can't help that.
Thursday, 2025-March-13
📓 With Felix Legion closing in on University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the group will be reduced by two once The Kids, Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi, resume their academic careers on campus. Although the final segment of David Guardia's Epic Ride covers the ride from Chapel Hill to Davenport, Iowa, US, there's a good chance not all zapfic entries feature the remainder of Felix Legion.
What else could I write about?
- Terry Leo coping with opposition mischief in Chicago, Illinois, US;
- Anibal Rivera covering Terry Leo and as a whole the mayoral campaign in Chicago;
- Developments involving ►Jardani "Don" Roma◄[43];
- ►Harry Hoqualogue◄[44] retiring from his life with ►The Mongols◄[45] to begin his own motorcycle escort business.
Unlikely to made it into the final phase of Rat Bike
, although still a possibility, is a zapfic entry featuring the character I call ►Sinatra Hater◄[46]. He is guaranteed to have a cameo appearance in The Bronze
, but he may or may not resurface between now and then.
Friday, 2025-March-14
📓 For Blue Lion
, I see it split into two distinct parts. The second half of the sequel zapfic serial takes place normally in order to set the stage for the final zapfic serial The Bronze
. However, the first half is a montage of scenes from the ten years of life after he finishes his Epic Ride. Some scenes in the montage feature his life as a "worker" earning his daily bread in some form or other. Other scenes show us his personal life as husband and lover to his wife, the former Rhonda Bella. In a way which mixes business with pleasure, they work on calendars featuring them in various costumes. One theme is comics, where Rhonda is 🕸️Wonder Woman🕸️ and David is either 🕸️Batman🕸️ or 🕸️Bane🕸️ from 🕸️The Dark Knight trilogy🕸️ by 🕸️Christopher Nolan🕸️. One theme has them as 🕸️Gomez Addams🕸️ and 🕸️Morticia Addams🕸️ from 🕸️The Addams Family🕸️ television series. One theme has them using their literal Felix Legion identities as ►Shieldmaiden◄[47] and ►Templar◄[48]. Other themes are possible, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
The montage isn't just focused on David. It also includes the Brothers Marchenko, Lindsay Etxeberria in a new stage of life, and Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi as part of David's business empire. They will all-- as his associates-- milk David's Epic Ride for as long as possible. If some motivational speakers can make a living giving speeches about the one moment for which they are most famous, David can certainly do the same thing and more.
Saturday, 2025-March-15
📓 The last few days I've been listening to music which is out of place in Rat Bike
but is perfect for certain scenes in Blue Lion
. It's a few 1980s songs performed by the late 🕸️Robert Palmer🕸️ both as a solo music artist as well as a member of the band 🕸️The Power Station🕸️. One or two of these songs will find their way into Blue Lion
, if not by direct inclusion, then at least by being the mental soundtrack in my mind for certain scenes. For Robert Palmer as a solo performer, I was listening to 🕸️"Simply Irresistible"🕸️ and 🕸️"I Didn't Mean To Turn You On"🕸️; for Robert Palmer as part of The Power Station, I was listening to 🕸️"Some Like It Hot"🕸️ and 🕸️"Get It On (Bang a Gong)"🕸️. Anyone familiar with these songs will know exactly what David and ►Rhonda Bella Guardia◄ [49] will be doing in some way or other.

📓 Although other things in my life are requiring more of my attention, I'm still thinking about GHAWG from various angles. As long as I can access the Internet, I will publish the daily zapfic entry. Porting Rat Bike
to novel format is still a work in progress. Adding to the zapfic queue will happen as needed. I'm still finding details and scenes to include in both Blue Lion
and The Bronze
.
Monday, 2025-March-17
📓 While walking through my neighborhood I saw a tow truck with its empty bed raised at an angle and touching the asphalt on the street. This may not seem like a big deal, but it's a scene I can incorporate in the novelization of Rat Bike
. Recall that the aring display of theatricality in Santa Fe, New Mexico, US involved Felix Legion jumping over a mob of ►environmental protesters◄[50]. This was done using an empty auto hauler. For ►The Twins◄[51], The Kids, and Lindsay Etxeberria, the jump was straightforward.
For David Guardia with Rhonda Bella Guardia riding with him, it was tricky. First, David rides a tri-cycle (a {"►Big Wheel◄[52]"} as described by Jacob Angel in a note he left for him at the Harley-Davidson dealership in Davenport, Iowa, US). This means a very tricky ride over the metal frame of the empty auto hauler. Second, David has the added weight of Rhonda behind him on the trike. For these reasons, I wasn't satisfied with the scene I published to LeoThreads in zapfic format. Using the empty tow truck simplifies and clarifies for me David's jump over the mob. When I reach this section of the novelization of the zapfic serial, the empty auto hauler becomes an empty tow truck.
Monday, 2025-March-17
📓 Today I added a couple of entries to the zapfic queue. As of now, the zapfic queue extends to 2025-May-03. The entries will take place after The Kids have been dropped off at UNC but before Felix Legion is reduced to 5 riders. By the end of this week, Felix Legion will arrive in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, US. This brings the 5th segment of David Guardia's Epic Ride to a close. The time at UNC will be handled like an Interlude. Felix Legion will remain intact for a few days before the Iowans and David ride to Iowa to complete the 6th and final segment of David's Epic Ride. What happens between Chapel Hill and Iowa is unknown to me, but what happens within Iowa will be the bigger than David meeting Harry Hoqualogue and The Mongols at STURGIS. How big will it be? It will set the stage for the final zapfic serial, The Bronze
.
Tuesday, 2025-March-18
📓 On Friday the 14th I mentioned how David and Rhonda Bella Guardia were going to do calendars with them in various costumes and I forgot a couple of costumes they were going to wear.
Today I recalled one of those: 🕸️X-Men🕸️ characters. David Guardia would be either 🕸️Professor Charles Xavier🕸️ or 🕸️Wolverine🕸️, and Rhonda would be 🕸️Dr. Jean Grey🕸️.
Just now I came up with them as 🕸️Avengers🕸️: Rhonda would be 🕸️The Black Widow🕸️, Natasha Romanoff, while David would be either 🕸️Captain America🕸️ or 🕸️Tony Stark🕸️ out of the Iron Man suit.
Wednesday, 2025-March-19
📓 Yesterday I remembered the costume sets I had forgotten for David and Rhonda Bella Guardia for their costume calendars in Blue Lion
. Today I remembered the other won: 🕸️Prince🕸️ and 🕸️Apollonia🕸️ from 🕸️Purple Rain🕸️. Why Prince and Apollonia? Besides being lovers, Apollonia was taller than Prince, which makes sense for Rhonda and David. Also, most people forget that besides being one of the best and most dynamic singers and music performers of the last fifty years, Prince was also a motorcycle rider. His ride was a 1981 🕸️Honda CM400A Hondamatic🕸️. There may be other costumes David and Rhonda can wear, but this is what I have for now.
Thursday, 2025-March-20
📓 This morning I extended the zapfic queue by one entry. It takes place during a media question-and-answer period for everyone in Felix Legion. One question is directed to The Kids by a reporter for the UNC campus radio station. It concerns memecoins, so the new entry is the answer to that question. Two ►memecoins◄[53] are mentioned. One is 🕸️$PEPE🕸️ since it can be found not just at Hive Engine but also as part of other blockchains. The other memecoin is 🕸️$FAFO🕸️, and that's only because I found it listed the other day at 🕸️CoinGecko🕸️.
📓 Today's music selection is 🕸️"It's a Long Road"🕸️; its lyrics were composed by 🕸️Hal Shaper🕸️ and 🕸️Jerry Goldsmith🕸️, and the song was sung by 🕸️Dan Hill🕸️. If neither the song nor the singer sound familiar, that's OK; the song itself is about 43 years old. It's the closing theme for the 1982 movie 🕸️First Blood🕸️, starring 🕸️Sylvester Stallone🕸️ as 🕸️John Rambo🕸️ (sometimes referred to as "Rambo, John J."). There is no place for this theme in any part of Rat Bike
, although I have it in mind for either the second half of Blue Lion
or in some part of The Bronze
. As long as his life is on the upswing, especially before reaching Peak GHAWG, I can't associate David Guardia or his actions with that theme.
Friday, 2025-March-21
📓 Although Blue Lion
revolves around David Guardia living "the good life" before he crashes and burns, the people in his life will also suffer pain or loss or both to some degree or other. If David's life goes downhill, you know that his wife's life will follow a similar or worse fate. However, so will the people we know today as The Twins and The Kids. Not even Lindsay Etxeberria escapes the weather system of misfortune.
In the case of The Twins, Hank Marchenko and Frank Marchenko, it will be particularly bad. While David (and Rhonda) will lose it all in some form or other, the losses for The Kids, Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi, will be limited to their professional lives and whatever finances are related to them. It will be likewise for Lindsay Etxeberria. For the Brothers Marchenko, though, it will be a case of their past catching up with them.
Despite their lives being changed by the entry of David Guardia into their lives, they still maintained their habit of sports gambling. For most of the time they are associated with David, they keep their sports gambling to "harmless" wagers such as office pools for the major tournaments like the Super Bowl, the NCAA Basketball Tournament, and the FIFA World Cup. Only when things go bad for David do things go bad for them. When it goes bad for them, it won't be a pretty sight for anyone involved with them.
Saturday, 2025-March-22
📓 When I began GHAWG in March 2023, David as Templar didn't exist. It was in October 2023 when I decided to turn David into The Templar. This was also when I decided to give Rhonda her own calling: The Dreamer. Had it not been for a dream she had, featuring "The Templar," she would have ignored David on seeing him in her hometown of Davenport, Iowa, US.
If readers are going to consider David Guardia as The Templar, then I need to introduce clues to this association as early as possible in the novelization of the zapfic serial. Today I went back to the text file containing the novelization of Rat Bike
to insert multiple references to things Templar, and I was able to do this at the start of the (incomplete) novel. Since I had nothing in mind for character descriptions when I introduced characters in Rat Bike
, I need to rectify that flaw in the novelization by describing their looks almost as soon as they appear to the reader.
Sunday, 2025-March-23
📓 Last time I updated the spreadsheet I use to track published zapfic entries, the GHAWG date was 2028-October-12. I took a bit of time to determine where one day ended and another day began. At this time, when Felix Legion rolls into Chapel Hill but a short distance from the University of North Carolina, the GHAWG date is 2028-October-17. Around 90 zapfic entries have been published to account those 5 days in GHAWG time. The lion's share of those entries take place on the 12th (when Felix Legion completes the ride along Route 66 before David makes his prophesies at the Obama Presidential Library in Jackson Park) and the 17th (when Felix Legion finds itself in a mass shooting at [fictional] store called The Dogemart in the [fictional] town of Bolivion, Virginia, US about an hour or two before reaching Chapel Hill). This means that what remains of Felix Legion once The Kids are dropped off has 2 weeks to reach their respective destinations in Iowa. A few days will be spent at UNC, so The Iowans will have less time than that.
