What's happening behind the scenes to bring new GHAWG content? The GHAWG Diaries is my recap of what I've been doing.
Base image came in another form from PublicDomainPictures.Net. Edits made using MS Paint.
Introduction
There's more to #GHAWG than just daily zapfic entries and the spreadsheet I use to track them. There's research. There's review. There's also thought and inspiration. Then there are the tools involved in doing any of those tasks.
Just to keep things from getting scrambled in my head, and also to document for myself what I've been considering, I began keeping a diary of my activities as they concern #GHAWG. With posts in the GHAWG, Uninterrupted
series on hold at Act 5 while Act 6 remains in progress, I decided to share these diary entries with everyone on Hive blockchain.
On Mondays which don't feature a GHAWG, Uninterrupted
post-- GHAWG-U-- I'll post diary entries from the previous 7 days or between GHAWG-U posts if the time between them is short. For Part 9, there are 7 days' worth of diary entries. The first entry starts on 2023-November-27.
Before anyone scratches their heads at a few terms, here are 3 I began using since the previous post:
Term | Meaning |
---|---|
Rat Bike | Code name for #GHAWG (the first and current zapfic serial) |
Blue Lion | Code name for the middle zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |
The Bronze | Code name for the final zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |

π Today I posted TGD Part 8. I spent much of the day working on a post about using links to videos versus embed codes (which include links). Not much else was done on the GHAWG front. However, I was thinking about a possible hostage rescue scenario to take place during the Old Route 66 portion of Rat Bike . Originally, David Guardia-- with help-- was going to need to rescue Rhonda Bella and others. Recently I began to reconsider this scenario. First, the scenario as I described is too predictable. Although David is the main character, not everything is about him; other characters need their moment in the sun, too. Second, I need situations which highlight the other characters on their own merits and on their own terms. So I'm thinking of reversing the roles and have Rhonda-- with help-- rescue David and others. With the roles reversed, I still need to consider who else is a hostage (and, therefore, who else is a rescuer). I also need to figure out where this scenario takes place, but I have time figure that out.Maybe I've been watching too many music videos of Wonder Woman themes in recent days, but could Rhonda get her own prequel? I think I established a framework for her own story, so it needs more hooks and then details. A Rhonda prequel is an option for The GHAWG Universe, but I need to get through Rat Bike first, then Blue Lion , then The Bronze .

π Much of the Hive day was spent looking for music videos to share at InLeo via LeoThreads. Along the way I was looking for ways to make the most minimal embed code which was still functional. The SRC= attribute is required; without it, the IFRAME is empty. Including attributes for WIDTH= and HEIGHT= is also a good idea, but even these can be removed if necessary. The TITLE= attribute identifies the embedded object to anyone accessing it, whether it's a person at a screen or a screen ready for someone who is legally blind. Bottom line: No SRC=, No video (or other embedded object). |

π I went down the YouTube rabbit hole again looking for music, so today I didn't do much GHAWG activity. The gears of the subconscious mind are churning, so sooner or later I'll have something I can put to paper or screen. Today wasn't a case of writer's block, though; it was simply time mismanagement. At least I'm getting closer to adding more details to the hostage rescue scenario to take place somewhere along Old Route 66. Rhonda Bella may not be Wonder Woman, but she could be her stunt double. (Wonder Woman? As I said earlier, I went down the YouTube rabbit hole again.) |

π At one end, I was reviewing the digital map which covered the area between South Bend, Indiana and Gary, Indiana. Much of that stretch had a small number of notable names, so the concentration picked up on the final screen; that's where the digital map showed what was between Valparaiso, Indiana and Gary, Indiana. This is where the next Fun With Maps post will be. π At the other end, I was reviewing the digital map between Needles, California and Joseph City, Arizona to see where Old Route 66 was hiding. At least until reaching Selgman, Arizona, much of the digital map showed desert. Interstate 40 has 0--zero-- towns between Kingman and Seligman, a ride of about 72 miles. Old Route 66 diverges wildly from I-40 between these 2 stops on Old Route 66. Riding along Old Route 66, there are 10 towns between Kingman and Seligman. More importantly, there were more opportunities for refueling. Our Heroes will call it a day at Ash Fork, 27 miles east of Seligman. |

π Much of the day was spent reviewing digital maps of both northern Indiana and western Arizona. Indiana was for finding places for Fun with Maps posts. Arizona was for adding to the zapfic entry queue, currently set for 2024-February-22 if I post an entry a day. Finding the path used by Old Route 66 is a tricky task, but that's why archives exist: to shed light on past events. |

π Today I posted the Weekly Summary for zapfic entries 230 through 236. These entries span 2023-October-19 through 2023-October 25. During this period Our Heroes are in Northern California, barely out of Oregon. Not including consultations on actual riding, this period includes one of the rare moments David Guardia and Harry Hoqualogue get to spend as regular people. On this occasion Rhonda Bella joins them. Later, when they set up camp for the night at Myers Flat, David and Rhonda share a moment of understanding and clarity between them, punctuated by the unexpected appearance of a bear. π While walking around the neighborhood I was going back and forth (but not alternating) between versions of cinematic Wondoer Woman's theme and Depeche Mode's version of "Route 66". I have Our Heroes in western Arizona, and the geography there just doesn't allow for much storytelling; because of where they are, they have to keep riding or melt under the desert heat. As for the Wonder Woman music, it got me considering elements of Rhonda Bella's past and possibly future. It's safe to say that David Guardia was no choir boy, so it makes sense to say that Rhonda was no choir girl. Even so, what makes sense to put into her story? I'll figure something out before I reach that part of The GHAWG Universe. |

π Most of my time on Hive today was spent on a post explaining how to use one weird trick to include blockquotes within the context of LeoThreads (LeoArticles is OK here). I just have to get the screen captures edited and in order before I explain the images. I should have had it published today, but that can't be helped now. Monday looks like a 2-for-1 special, one GHAWG post and one non-GHAWG post. |

Navigation to Other GHAWG Diaries
As more posts become available, this section will be updated with links to them.
When (and Where) To Catch #GHAWG
When
This is the normal schedule for the posting of content for #GHAWG:
β Daily -- Each zapfic entry is posted shortly after midnight, from New York
β Weekends -- Weekly Summaries (with modified screen capture from LeoThreads as cover image) are usually on Saturday, sometimes Sunday
β Monday -- Either GHAWG, Uninterrupted
if present, or The GHAWG Diaries
β Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday -- GHAWG Behind the Scenes
-- The goal is to publish these posts on all days not dedicated to the Weekly Sumamry, GHAWH-U, or The GHAWG Diaries
(TGD). There may be days with no post, so I'll minimize those occasions as best as I can.
Where
β Daily zapfic entries drop at LeoThreads, usually posted shortly after midnight from New York (sometimes around noon)
β All long form posts-- Weekly Summaries, GHAWG-U, and TGD-- can be accessed using the #GHAWGnav sticky post or from my LeoFinance profile page

This week I hope to have more content published and recorded to Hive blockchain.
That's it for this edition of The GHAWG Diaries
