The Land fever is taking over Splinterlands, and if you are a splinterlands enthusiast and keep an eye on this gaming project, then you must be witnessing the rising hype around Land right now, especially after the recent Land 1.75 Update launch. With this groundbreaking update, 3 new resources - Stone, Wood and Iron have been introduced in Land and can now be produced, traded and invested in liquidity pools. Moreover, these new resources will also be required to claim resource production on your land and not to mention, apart from these new resources, the entire Land gameplay and UI/UX has also got a new makeover along with the introduction of new liquidity pools, including these new resources in the Merchant Tab.
After this gigantic update, many new and old players are again showing interest in Lands, including restarting their idle lands or buying and running new Lands from the market, since there are no more lands for sale on the official game market. But, Land is a vast chapter to grasp quickly, as there are many things to learn in order to utilise your land and produce resources at an optimal rate. Especially for new players and investors, who rarely have any knowledge about Land, may find it overwhelming when starting their journey on Land. So, why not discuss some important factors in land that not only help newcomers but also are useful for old folks to brush up their knowledge once more. So, Today, let us dive into one of the most important aspects of Splinterlands Land - building and changing worksites on your land. Whether you are just thinking of starting your journey in Land or looking to switch your production to these new resources, understanding these initial steps regarding Worksite will help you maximise your land’s productivity and make the most out of your investment. What is a Worksite
Before we start, let us learn about worksites and their use in Land Plots. Worksites are actually different types of production buildings on your land. A worksite is a must need to kickstart the production of resources like grain, wood, iron, stone, SPS tokens or research. When selling or transferring your Land plots, the Worksite on a particular land plot also gets transferred and allows the new owner to start producing resources right away.
Building a Worksite on Your Land
Once you have bought or claimed your land plot and done a proper survey on it to reveal its stats, you are then ready to build your first worksite. To build a worksite, here is what you need:
Dark Energy (DEC) - In order to make your Land Plot Production ready, you need dark energy to be locked in your region. Dark energy is required to fuel your power core and charge your workers. So, make sure you have staked enough Dark Energy Crystals in the region where your Land is located. Each max level card used in land requires 10k staked DEC and lower level cards require a lower amount of DEC, but if you are using a Runi card, you will not be required to stake any DEC. You may also unstake your DEC, but that will trigger a harvest for all the owned active land plots in that whole region.
Power Core - A power Core is required to give power to your workers. You can purchase and use a power core for 5k DEC per piece or use a runi card as well in the power core slot, or use both a power core and a runi card for better production.
CARDS - Apart from a Power Core and Dark Energy, another requirement to start production on Land is to stake 5 Splinterlands cards on your land plot. Now, different lands have unique types of terrains and depending on their terrain, certain element cards will give a production boost and certain cards will apply a penalty, so watch out before you stake cards to get maximum production rate.
Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Worksite
Navigate to Production
While on the Land tab, use the Production button to access the Production Overview page. Here you all see the regions where your cards and Dark Energy are staked.
Select Your Region and Plot
Choose the region you want to start production and then pick the specific plot where you want to build your worksite.
Prepare Your Land
First, make sure that you have added DEC into stake, staked your cards and items, and claimed (if any) available totems on your land.
Choose Your Worksite
Now that you are ready, select the type of worksite you want to build. Now, after the 1.75 Update, there are a total of 6 different types of Worksites, such as - Grain Farm, Shard Mine, Research Hut, Quarry, Logging Camp and Ore Mine. Choose any of them according to your requirement and just build it.
Construction of Worksite
Building a Worksite is a time consuming process, but if you want to skip waiting, check the Build Instantly with Time Crystals option. This option will instantly build the worksite and also allow you to bypass the grain requirement for feeding your workers afterwards.
You can also choose the Speed Up button and use a specific amount of Time Crystals to reduce time by 10k PP per Time Crystal. For both cases, make sure you have enough Time Crystals before proceeding and you can purchase them from the land market if needed.
For those who did not choose the build instantly option, you have to feed your workers with Grain to start production. You can either choose to purchase Grain, transfer from another region, or buy the remaining Grain with DEC in the swap option.
That’s it, guys! Now that everything is set, just sit a d enjoy your newly built worksite as it begins producing your desired resources.
Changing Your Worksite
There may come a time when you want to switch from one worksite type to another, especially after the Land 1.75 update. you may want to change, let’s say, from a Shard Mine to a Logging Camp. This process lets you set up a new worksite for fresh production on your existing Land plot.
Step-by-Step Guide to Changing a Worksite
- First, go to the desired worksite tab.
Now, click on the Change button to start the process.
Select Your New Worksite - Choose an alternate worksite option and click Build (example - Grain Farm, Shard Mine, Research Hut, Quarry, Logging Camp and Ore Mine).
Confirm and Build - You will see a pop-up appearing after doing so, confirming that your new worksite is under construction. If desired, you can speed up the process by clicking the Speed Up button and using Time Crystals to accelerate the build. Just like the process while building a worksite, you can either click Max to use your maximum Time Crystals available or enter the amount manually. But be sure to check your Time Crystal balance in the upper right corner before performing this step.

With the right strategy and preparation, you can ensure your resource production is always at its peak.
