Happy Wednesday and happy midweek for all my dear artistic community, I am Manuel and I want to welcome you once again to my art blog, this time I come to share a new participation for the weekly dynamics of the community of #Splinterlands where every week we must choose one of the cards of their fabulous game and make a drawing, illustration, sculpture, in short, any artistic work in our style on their characters in the game. In this opportunity and to vary a little with the typical characters like warriors, mages or hunters, I decided to choose a card a little particular and unique, and the card chosen by me for this week was the (GRIM REAPER) and basically it is a character who is in charge of taking the souls of all those fallen in combat; the (GRIM REAPER) are creatures with an extremely gloomy appearance, their bodies are skeletons without flesh or muscle, their eyes are bright red and they always carry a long and sharp scythe with which it is said that they tear the souls of the bodies of the fallen in combat:
Feliz miércoles y feliz mitad de semana para toda mi querida comunidad artística, yo soy Manuel y quiero dales la bienvenida una vez mas a mi blog de arte, en esta oportunidad les vengo a compartir una nueva participación para la dinámica semanal de la comunidad de #Splinterlands donde todas las semanas debemos elegir entre una de las cartas de su fabuloso juego y realizar un dibujo, ilustración, escultura, en fin, cualquier obra artística a nuestro estilo sobre sus personajes del juego. En esta oportunidad y para variar un poco con los personajes típicos como guerreros, magos o cazadores pues decidí escoger una carta un tanto particular y única, y la carta elegida por mi para esta semana fue la de (GRIM REAPER) y básicamente se trata de un personaje el cual es el encargado de llevarse las almas de todos aquellos caídos en combate; los (GRIM REAPER) son criaturas con apariencia sumamente tétrica, sus cuerpos son esqueletos sin carne o musculo, sus ojos son rojos brillantes y además llevan consigo siempre una larga y filosa guadaña con la cual se dice que arrancan las almas de los cuerpos de los caídos en combate:
As this would be a character made entirely of bones I let my imagination flow a little, I created the skull of (GRIM REAPER) with a fairly large size and drew his teeth in a very sharp way to give a little more tetricity to the character; for the painting of the bones I decided to choose a range of yellowish and brown colors to create the skeleton in the most realistic way possible, first of all I started making strokes with brown colors on the yellow base to achieve a good basic texture of bone. I added some shadow details between the bony fingers also in the part between the skull and the spine of the skeleton, I also decided to add some details in gray and dark brown in the eye sockets to give it a better realism; for the eyes I used tones like red and a little orange, the idea here is that the eyes look a little bloody and intimidating to have a better essence of this character.
Como este se trataría de un personaje hecho enteramente de huesos pues deje fluir un poco mi imaginación, cree el cráneo del (GRIM REAPER) con un tamaño bastante grande y dibuje sus dientes de manera muy afilada para darle un poco mas de tetricidad al personaje; para el pintado de los huesos decidí elegir una gama de colores amarillentos y marrones para crear el esqueleto de la manera más realista posible, primero que nada comencé realizando trazos con los colores marrones sobre la base amarilla para ir logrando una buena textura básica de hueso. Agregue algunos tantos detalles de sombra entre los dedos huesudos también en la parte entre el cráneo y la columna vertebral del esqueleto, también decidí añadir ciertos detalles en color gris y marrón oscuro en las cuencas de los ojos para darle un mejor realismo; para los ojos use tonos como el rojo y un poco de naranja, la idea aquí es que los ojos se vieran un poco sangrientos e intimidantes para que tuviese una mejor esencia este personaje.
For the clothing I decided to section everything in several layers and give special care to each part of the costume, for the lower part I painted a kind of long tunic with hood which I painted with tones like deep gray and I was scaling slightly towards lighter tones to give a little brightness to the tunic; for the hood and sleeves I decided to add a little reddish tone for the inner part of the tunic, I added the respective shadows in the inner part and also in the edges a little soft purple to give a little more style to the tunic. Another thing I painted was a kind of purple band with golden details on the edges, little by little my drawing was taking that terrifying shape that I wanted so much; some high shines in the final part helped me to highlight a little more the folds of the tunic and especially the high part of the hood that is where the light of the environment arrives in a more direct way.
Para la vestimenta decidí seccionar todo en varias capas y darle especial cuidado a cada parte del traje, para la parte baja pinte una especie de túnica larga con capucha la cual pinte con tonos como el gris profundo y me fui escalando levemente hacia tonos un tanto mas claros para darle un poco de brillo a la túnica; para la capucha y las mangas decidí añadir un poco de tonalidad rojiza para la parte interior de la túnica, añadí las respectivas sombras en la parte interna y también en los bordes un poco de morado suave para darle un poco más de estilo a la túnica. Otra cosa que pinte fue una especie de banda en color morado con detalles dorados en los bordes, poco a poco mi dibujo fue tomando esa forma terrorífica que tanto quería; unos brillos altos en la parte final me ayudaron a resalta un poco mas los pliegues de la túnica y sobre todo la parte alta de la capucha que es donde llega de manera mas directa la luz del ambiente.
The scythe was quite easy to paint because lately I have seen many tutorials and videos on how to create weapons and especially weapons of ancient or rudimentary style, first I started creating the base of the scythe as a long irregular wooden stick, for this I used a lot of soft brown color and added a quite demarcated shading in order to create a realistic wood texture; then for what would be the sharp blade of the scythe I went to the range of grayish colors, I made a base mixing a little intense gray along with a bluish gray for the edge of the weapon, then I was polishing a little the edges of the edge adding bluish grays in an ascending way until achieving a good edge. Once the scythe was almost ready I added a couple of glow effects to make the weapon finally come to life, I also took advantage of this same layer to add a brightening to the eyes of (GRIM REAPER) but in a reddish tone, I repeated this process a couple of times blurring and repeating until the eyes looked just as I wanted; at the end I painted a kind of castle-like structure in the background and added a light trail of dust floating around the (GRIM REAPER) with which he camouflages himself so as not to be seen until it is too late.
La guadaña se me hizo bastante fácil de pintar ya que últimamente he visto muchos tutoriales y videos de como crear armas y sobre todo armas de estilo antiguo o rudimentario, primero comencé creando la base de la guadaña como un largo bastón de madera irregular, para esto use mucho color marrón suave y agregue un sombreado bastante demarcado para así poder crear una textura de madera bastante realista; luego para lo que seria la filosa hoja de la guadaña me pase hacia la gama de colores grisáceos, plasme una base mezclando un poco de gris intenso junto con un gris azulado para la parte del filo del arma, luego fui puliendo un poco los bordes del filo añadiendo grises azulados de manera ascendente hasta lograr un buen filo. Ya con la guadaña casi lista se me ocurrió agregar un par de efectos de brillo para que el arma por fin cobrara vida propia, también aproveche esta misma capa para agregar un iluminado a los ojos de (GRIM REAPER) pero en tonalidad rojiza, este proceso lo repetí un par de veces difuminando y repitiendo hasta que los ojos se veían tal cual como yo deseaba; al final pinte una especie como de estructura de castillo en el fondo y añadí una leve estela de polvo flotando alrededor del (GRIM REAPER) con la cual se camufla para no ser visto hasta que ya es muy tarde.
