Doctor Blight! 馃暞
Greetings community, welcome to my new post. This time I want to share with you my participation to the @splinterlands art contest. For this entry I have chosen to make an illustration based on the character Doctor Blight, this time I wanted to do something a bit different, I wanted to take this character to a more anime oriented style, respecting the characteristics of the original character. I'll tell you a little bit about the process to make this illustration. I hope you like it and thank you for taking the time to read my post!
Saludos comunidad, sean todos bienvenidos a mi nuevo post. En esta ocasi贸n quiero compartir con ustedes mi participaci贸n al concurso de arte de @splinterlands. Para esta entrada he elegido realizar una ilustraci贸n basada en el personaje de Doctor Blight, esta vez he querido realizar algo un poco diferente, quise llevar a este personaje a un estilo un poco mas orientado al anime, respetando las caracter铆sticas del personaje original. Les cuento un poco a continuaci贸n sobre el proceso para realizar esta ilustraci贸n 隆Espero les guste y les doy las gracias por tomarse el tiempo de leer mi publicaci贸n!
Creative Process | Proceso Creativo鉁忥笍
I started by making a basic outline with the initial pose of the character, from this I added the main elements of the reference character. I separated them with different colours so as not to get lost with the lines. Once I finished the whole character I added some effect lines to work on the background later.
Comenc茅 realizando un esquema b谩sico con la pose inicial del personaje, a partir de este fui agregando los elementos principales del personaje de referencia. Estos los fui separando con colores diferentes para no perderme con las l铆neas. Una vez termine de realizar al personaje en su totalidad le agregue unas l铆neas de efecto para trabajar en el fondo mas adelante.
Then I tried to clean up the sketch a bit more as it was a bit dirty, once this was done I started to make a lineart all over the character, varying the thickness of the lines to create some dynamism in the stroke.
Luego trate de limpiar un poco mas el boceto ya que estaba algo sucio, una vez hecho esto comenc茅 a realizar un lineart en todo el personaje, variando los grosores de l铆neas para crear algo de dinamismo en el trazo.
Once I finished the lineart I proceeded to place the base colours, for this I made a colour palette with the same tones of the reference character. I applied them in different layers to have a better order in them. With the base colours applied I started to work on the flat shadows of the character to give some volume to the illustration.
Una vez termine de realizar el lineart proced铆 a colocar los colores base, para ello arme una paleta de color con los mismos tonos del personaje de referencia. Estos los fui aplicando en capas diferentes para tener un mejor orden en las mismas. Con los colores base aplicados comenc茅 a trabajar en las sombras planas del personaje para dar algo de volumen a la ilustraci贸n.
Once the shadows were applied I thought about leaving the character like that, but in the end I wanted to work a bit more on the character by applying some lights with which I tried to play a bit with their finish. Once I finished the character the next thing to do was to select the rays around the character and make a gradient between a green colour and a transparent colour to give the fading effect.
Aplicadas las sombras pens茅 en dejar el personaje as铆, pero al final quise trabajar un poco mas en el personaje aplicando una luces con las cuales trate de jugar un poco con los acabados de estas. Una vez termine al personaje lo siguiente fue seleccionar los rayos alrededor del personaje y realice un degradado entre un color verde y color transparente para dar el efecto de desvanecimiento.

And this is the end of my participation for this week's contest, as a final detail I made a small background based on brushstrokes with a paint effect brush, I also made a colour and saturation adjustment to improve the tones of the image. Y as铆 doy por culminada mi participaci贸n para el concurso de esta semana, como detalle final hice un peque帽o fondo en base de pinceladas con un pincel de efecto pintura, adem谩s realice un ajuste de color y saturaci贸n para mejorar los tonos de la imagen.
