Its another edition of the hive learners community weekly task and I’m super excited to make a post regarding this week's selected topic. This edition's theme is
if you were made the president of your country today, what are they first three things you will do for your country.
To be honest, this is a delicate topic because it provides an opportunity to show one's leadership goals. This is also an opportunity for us to stand out and be vindicated for all of our criticism on our leaders. True, we all feel that if given the chance, we can do better, but we have failed to recognize that it is not as easy as we imagine.
If you've ever been in a leadership position, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Except for the military system of government, every other government has several arms that have a say in all of the nation's decisions making. It is also true that one's willingness to do good can be subdued by numerous evil people around him; in that case, they can fight the evil, honorably resign the position, or play along with the evil people, the later will have a noxious consequence on the people being led, as has been our situation for a long time. This leads me to this edition's question: What are my first three responsibilities?
Amend the Nation’s Constitution
Personally, I believe that our country's current problems are mostly due to its old and poorly constructed constitution. Laws are one of the most important factors in determining whether or not a country will succeed.

A country that is based on the wrong foundation will collapse. Currently, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is beset by a slew of ill-intentioned legislation that stifle progress. Most of these laws solely benefit people in political positions, and as a result, amending them has been fiercely opposed by those in power. To name a few areas where changes should be made, there are the following:
• A revisit of our system of government (implementation of true federalism)
• Gender inequality to allow more women in leadership position
• Discrimination
• Marginalized Judiciary in a skewed Federal System
• Immunity of Certain Public Officers from Prosecution
• Local Governments financial autonomy
Etc.
Invest In the Power sector
One thing that many people may not realize is that electricity is the foundation of development. In today's world, there is little, if anything, that can be accomplished in a no-power zone. As the world has transitioned from analog to digital, the provision of electricity has become a critical and unavoidable reality.

For example, whereas Nigeria and Brazil have similar populations, Brazil generates over 170,000MW of power while Nigeria only manages to generate 12,000MW. This is a significant setback for our progress.
Education for All
Personally, I believe in fairness and equity, and feel that every person of a country should have equality of opportunity. I recognize that this will be a significant financial burden for the government, but it does not change the fact that every person ought to be treated fairly.
Currently, the state of our nation has made education a privilege reserved for the wealthy, and as a result, the lower classes' abilities and skills are being squandered due to a lack of equitable opportunity. I not only aim to educate everyone, but to offer a good education in well-funded schools that can compete on a worldwide scale. People should not be financially bullied into abandoning their ambitions. The first idea that should come to everyone's mind, in my opinion, should be how to invest in mankind. We are humans, and if we do not invest in our species, we risk extinction.
I'd have liked to keep saying things I know I'll do as president, but the mask has limited me to only three things, moreover, this isn't a campaign.
