You know, guys, sometimes, in the midst of the constant noise of the city, you realize that something is missing without knowing exactly what it is. Well, maybe it doesn't happen to all of us, but in Limey's case it was like that. You see, he is a man who was born in the capital of his country. So from a young age he got used to this city life. He was a good student in his time, so he was able to graduate with several gold degrees in economics, for this reason he was able to get a good job in a good company from a young age. He lacked nothing, he had his own pretty good and luxurious house, he had a good car and a nice wife and children. You could say that he was a fulfilled man and that all his goals were met. Anyone in his shoes would be more than satisfied and would envy his position.
But you know, everything in this life is not about money or material possessions. In Limey's case, there is something that he has always wanted but has not been able to achieve, or it is not that he has not been able to, but that he has not dared to do. He loves nature and his dream has been to live close to it all his life. But not in the sense of going on vacation and staying for a week, no, what he wants is to stay and live defenselessly in the middle of nature. But until now he has never given much thought to that because making that dream a reality would be very expensive and would be a radical change in his life that he was not yet ready to make. At home he has his wife Mary, his mother and father and his 2 children. Together they live in a large and luxurious house.
But as strange as it may seem, everyone at some point in their lives has loved the idea of living in the countryside and being close to nature. But just like Limey, they have not dared to take the leap into that reality. In the case of Limey's parents, they are already older, so that unfulfilled dream is behind them, and Mary, his wife, also left that idea aside when she married him. However, they all still share the dream, but they don't dare to take the step.
But why was it so difficult for all of them to take this step if it was a strong desire they had in common? I think the answer is more than obvious, it is not easy to change the comfortable life of the city, where everything is easier to get and there is more opportunity to prosper and find a job. All those things are what have stopped them, including Limey of course. For a long time their lives continued with the desire, perhaps we can call it a dream, but they still did not take real action on what they wanted. To top it off, Limey was promoted at work so he now earned more money, so it would be even more difficult to leave those tempting life possibilities to go live in the country. At first glance it is true that it was very difficult for anything of this to change.
But it turns out that one night when everyone was sitting at home eating, Limey's aged mother seems to have thought out loud while they were at the table and did not realize that the others would notice what she said. She said I wish we had our little house in the country before I close my eyes. At that moment, everyone listened to her, but no one wanted to say anything. The one who was most shocked by this was Limey, who saw that his mother had the desire to live in the country like him, but that time was running out. It was a reality check that made them react and make a decision before it was too late, as in the case of his mother.
At this point Limey made the decision. That night in his room he turned on his laptop and started looking for nice houses in the countryside. Among the ones he found was a farm located in the middle of nature, and there was also a lake. The farm would be perfect because they could grow crops to feed themselves and also sell products to get ahead. Of course this change would not be easy but if the family was willing to do it to fulfill the dream they had shared he would do it. So he held a family meeting the next day and explained what he had in mind. Everyone was surprised by this decision but they had doubts about whether they could survive economically.
Then Limey explained to them that before leaving the city he would leave a manager under his supervision, so he would continue to receive his high salary, only he would have to pay his employee a little. In addition, with part of his money he would found other businesses in the city with employees so he would not have to be directly present. In this way the farm would not be the main way to obtain income and they could live comfortably in it without working themselves to death.
His family was thrilled with the idea. They regretted not having done it sooner, but at least it wasn't too late. So everyone voted and agreed to leave everything behind to go and fulfill their dream. They rented the house to create another source of income and went to the farm in the countryside. When they arrived they saw that the place needed a lot of work to get it up to par, but they didn't care, what counted was the experience. They were all ready to start a new life, Limey wanted to make his and his mother's dream come true, and he finally succeeded.
